Bottom line is that bringing in just Nesta at DT is unacceptable this year. Last year he brought in Ford and Martin (3 tech DT). Martin is a project. Ford could be a 1 tech, but he would have to gain more weight and strength to constantly absorb double teams and hold the LOS. Nesta is a 1 tech but is a freshman. He honestly should take a year and get college strong.

3 in a two year span is bad DT recruiting. Need 2 a year minimum. 3 a year if 1 is a project.

I'll give him until signing day, but right now we have 1 committed (but unsigned) and a bunch of soft maybe's. That is cause for concern. The other thing that worries me a bit is that the staff seems very comfortable with just Nesta. I don't get it. Either they know something we don't (Norton staying) or they have a silent somewhere.

Just don’t see a sense of urgency. There are several top DT’s currently available and not seeing much action on them. Also the whole Goldwire situation. Then you have Briggs sitting here undecided.
I admit this is pure conjecture on my part but other than Carson- the tweets, insider info, and visits established etc for DT’s seem sparse.

Imo replacing mcintosh will be hard because he showed up in every game but norton? He disappeared in a lot of games and only had 6.5 tfls 2 sacks. Any of our dts could put up those numbers next year with the snaps norton had

I was simply making the observation that we have not done as well at D tackle as other top playoff teams. That’s my opinion. Never did it come out of my mouth that Coach Kool cannot recruit and has done a bad job. The fact is we all know and you do to that in order to beat the big boys we’re going to have to do a better job at signing D tackles

you dont know whats going on behind the scenes. No one knew Joyner was flipping when he did. Two months before jarren flipped, we had no idea. Richt knows how to recruit. Even Dabo said richt use to beat him out for top players all the time.
