Why the fck do we struggle to land top DTs? We thought it was because of that retarded scheme we were running, but we still don't seem to be getting the interest of the top DTs. Why is that? Our DL has been nasty and Kool is a beast, so why are the top guys not biting?

1. Don't give me any crap about Kool'- yes he's awesome at developing, but we should be giving him the best raw materials.
2. Don't give me any crap about stars don't matter. They aren't everything, but they do matter and for some reason we don't seem to be able to land any 4/5* DTS.

I agree BUT I will say stars don't matter as much when your DL coach is known for turning 2 stars and making them 1st round draft picks. I do get where your coming from because I want the highly touted super strong raw athletes to.

If its not for Norton taking on double teams all year freeing up RJ and giving him single coverage, RJ doesn't have the year he had. The 3 tech is always the sexier position.

Ford and Bethel are converted DE's, and Willis has always played 3 technique. All 3 of them are 3 Technique DT's unless Ford gained an amazing amount of strength and got up to 300 lbs. You want to count on an incoming Freshman to play 1 technique LMFAO. Don't you know the big boys on the O and D lines require the most development due to the brute strength and technique their positions require?

LMFAO at calling me a troll. Concern at the position is not trolling. It is the most vital position to fill in this class and none are signed as of yet. It appears as though Briggs was trolling Kul and company all along. Hopefully we don't end up settling for someone else's scraps (grad transfer) like we have done in the past.

We have a legit 3 deep with silvera. We need one more in case an injury happens since we rotate so many guys - 2 more would be the max after Silvera.

I will tell you Kul was criticized at Mizzou for recruiting. He is an unbelievable developer but supposedly wasn't a very strong recruiter. Could have been just sour grapes he left but that was the stigma.

The very second that you say Fines you ruined all credibility you had left. You might as well have not said another word because everybody knows you are a fool at this point. Fines has been rumored to move to OL for a long time. He sucks and is a transfer candidate

Do you know for sure that Ford has gained enough weight/strength to play 1 technique? He is a converted DE and reported to campus at 260 lbs. Is that who you want starting in Norton's place? I hope to god he is ready to play there because Silvera should not be counted on year 1 as a starter at that position. Starting 1 Technique DT at this level is a whole different world than in highschool.

We have no issues at the 3 gap with Bethel, Willis and maybe Ford if he isn't ready to go at 1 technique.

The real issue is if there is an injury to Ford (if he is indeed ready to play 1 technique) or Silvera. That is when **** gets real dicey. That position is urgent because that is the position that gets double teamed who frees up everybody else to make plays. If you don't have a true 1 technique the Center can just free release to the MLB

Bottom line is that bringing in just Nesta at DT is unacceptable this year. Last year he brought in Ford and Martin (3 tech DT). Martin is a project. Ford could be a 1 tech, but he would have to gain more weight and strength to constantly absorb double teams and hold the LOS. Nesta is a 1 tech but is a freshman. He honestly should take a year and get college strong.

3 in a two year span is bad DT recruiting. Need 2 a year minimum. 3 a year if 1 is a project.

I'll give him until signing day, but right now we have 1 committed (but unsigned) and a bunch of soft maybe's. That is cause for concern. The other thing that worries me a bit is that the staff seems very comfortable with just Nesta. I don't get it. Either they know something we don't (Norton staying) or they have a silent somewhere.
