General question about our Defensive and Offensive approach

I have a question for some of our football gurus. Why do we play so conservatively on defense? I see where we started to blitz toward the end, but I didn't understand why we didn't bring more pressure right up the middle when Wake opened with the wide splits. Why not force their QB to make faster decisions with the ball by coming right up the middle? Instead, we took the great circle route to get to him to mainly no good effect.

Offensively, I hope we see more of the power running game going forward. We looked good running right at Wake. Also, I understand why we hesitate at the line of scrimmage and look back at Coach Coley, but I do wonder if that slow down is preventing Steven from getting into a passing rhythm. I see him as a streaky QB who seems to play best when he is able to get into a rhythm. Maybe not. I thought Steven did just enough today, and most importantly he didn't turn the ball over. I say power running game and play action. Offensively, I'd like us to be more aggressive and not seem like we're playing not to lose. I think doing so keeps games close that otherwise may be blow outs.

Having said that I love being 7-0. It was ugly but I'm glad to have the W.

Stacey Coley really stepped up today.

Oh, and the officiating still sucks. ACC officials are the worse.

We are basically running the same D as Bama without the horses. As Texas A&M has shown us, if you spread out 3-4 teams it will be pitch and catch heaven. Most coaches are arrogant so the result wont end well.
