I never recommend them unless you have a huge yard. The turning radius on non zero turn mowers is pretty bad and if you have a smaller yard or lots of trees/landscaping, it may take longer to cut. I used to have a rider at my old house. Mostly I used it to pull my boat trailer around the yard but I would occasionally use it to mow the back yard. Between crashing into the picnic table and trying not to hit tree roots, it was faster to use my 21” walk behind. Obviously if you live on an acre or some huge plot, there’s no real other option besides paying someone.
