Why do we do this every year with any team that under performs or any team that the coach leaves. We always think we are going to benefit and their class will fall apart. They will recruit just fine, it may help for a couple of kids we are battling for but won't make a huge difference.

I am sure UCF and USF fans are thinking the same thing and guess what they will not out recruit UF or FSU.

It's also dumb to compare them to us. We need to keep winning to prove we've truly turned the corner as a program. We can't keep losing the truly big games. Our class certainly won't fall apart if we lose to VT and ND but we also gotta prove we are in it for the long haul as long as Richt is here.

We may not benefit directly but, Jim Bob has been pulling NSD coups every season. FSU has been snatching up highly coveted 5* star talent seemingly out of nowhere on NSD. While these recruiting wins haven't directly resulted in titles or even playoff births, they have created a hype machine that has impacted some SoFla recruits decisions. Hopefully this will be the first cycle in a while where the holes don't receive a hype bump from a big NSD.

just as much as we need to prove we are for real for the long term, fsu needs to prove they are gonna suck for the long term before recruits stop wanting to go there.

we may flip kids who were "flip" candidates for the last month or so, like joyner, or a kid from '19 who was once committed to us, dent, but, you aren't gonna see mass exodus of their class and guys in their class just calling richt saying they want to come. our class has very few spots left anyway.

I'm with you. FSU also has done well landing big OOS guys. Obviously we have our base but when you start winning you attract kids from everywhere. It's why I never agreed with wanting FSU to be "undefeated" of #1 when we play them. We want them to lose every game, every year.

Jimbo as a coach is deabteable but he's a beast of a recruiter. Always has been. But if they're losing consistently, that's going to fall. One year won't do it but like you said, it will likely cost them some big name OOS guys come signing day.
