From my vodka induced haze, I remember two plays...

that I think were pivotal...

- 1st was Duke Johnson tough run off the option pitch from Morris on 4th and 1. To me, while everyone is talking about his big runs that make you go 'wow'- this play showed me this guy is perhaps ready for then just having a few plays or packages designed for him. He lowered his shoulder, ran through a couple guys and got a pivotal conversation. Last thing UM needed was to be down 21 at that point. I know it got Golden fired up on the sideline

- Then there was Perryman's INT, just think about it, this was looking like Maryland all over again after the first 10 minutes with no end in sight. UM cuts the lead to 7 and to end the first quarter, after all BC had done, it was a dead even game. I think from that point on, UM had a huge mental edge having gotten off the canvas. I never had the sense Miami was going to lose after it was tied up at 14.

A few other thoughts..

- I said it before, based on the youth of this team and the schedule, I thought BC was a must-win. Bottom line, they lose to BC, and who knows, maybe 4-8 isnt out of the question. And Im convinced that to have any chance in the Little Apple, this young squad and staff needed some positive momentum going in, not be 0-1. Yeah, this team has holes, but a W is a W. This program will take them anyway they can right now.

- Lots of talk about Jethro Franklin, all I can say is that being out in LA and surrounded by Trojan fans, he was a coach that was not that highly regarded by the fan-base like many of their others. Take that for what you will.

- And speaking of which, just who badly needed is Olivier Vernon right now? Say what you want about him, but he was by far Miami's best edge rusher

- Stephen Morris will be good, I think he and Fisch work well together and he can make certain throws that his predecessor simply couldn't( even that Rashawn Scott-caused INT). I think vs K-St will see them challenge down the seams more and upfield.

- One non-UM observation, not surprised in the least by Bama hammering Michigan. Wolverines were a bit lucky last year to win 11 games and you give Saban all summer to prepare and it's tough.

Dont want to repeat too much of what's already stated but it's good to have football back. Get ready for a roller-coaster ride, this is the type of season Miami is in for. Should be fun and frustrating( at the same time, too). But being 1-0, sure beats being 0-1...

i was thinking the exact same thing.... only guy i really think were missing that left early was OV cause our pass rush was just horrible

Oh, and thank God for ESPN3, I was able to watch the beginning of the game( even though it was painful) but this platform has come a long ways. The streaming is much better and it come a loooooong ways from when the screen froze- never to return- during Craig Cooper's punt return vs Chazz Southern

Now, all of you have FX, right?
