I'm trying but I don't see why. Hate to be that guy, but there's no way this guy plays at Miami. I just don't see it happening. I haven't seen him since the summer, but didn't see anything at all to tell me he's ACC caliber. Doesn't possess anything that tells me ACC. Unless he grows a few inches and loses about 40 lbs, it ain't going to end well for him here. Lacks athleticism to run the floor and defend the pick & roll. Not a great shot blocker or rebounder. Ok back to the basket, but at the next level with no lift it's going to be very difficult for him to finish in the paint against defenders who are just as tall as him and more athletic. I hope we're not taking this kid because Boozer has informed the staff he's going to Duke. Otherwise, what could be the reasoning behind it?

What would this kid have to do with Boozer? They don't even play the same position.

May not play the same position but they’re not a match neither. Ahmed is an undersized post. Cam Boozer is a hybrid forward, probably leaning towards a 4 at the next level and beyond. The kind of big you want to pair Boozer with is either one who will dominate the paint or one who will spread the floor. This Ahmed kid does neither. Just doesn’t make much sense to me to sign this kid to pair him with Boozer. Only way I see them going after a kid like this is, either Boozer ain’t coming or they got who they think is the best available big in the 2025 class. I just think this guy is so far away from playing that if they were thinking of pairing him with Boozer it’d be a waste of time in my humble opinion. Save the scholly and go after the real “Baby Shaq”, Marcis Ponder. A legit 7 footer, with 7’4” wingspan who will go after every rebound and contest every shot. A true 5, not an undersized, over weight kid who prods up and down the floor.

Rasta implying there may be a link but for different reasons

I still think the boozers are coming. That’s why I don’t think it makes much sense to waste a scholly on a guy who’s at the very least a few years from playing at Miami. Hope I’m wrong about him but I just don’t see a single skill set that tells me he’ll see the floor in year 1, or 2 for that matter.

Who knows, maybe they did to appease the Boozers. Just to say they have a big body in the class. However, if that’s the case I would’ve taken a shot on a more realistic option from the portal.

Boozer is a 1 and done and this kid is most likely a redshirt, there recruitments have nothing to do with each other.

Not necessarily true. Could be getting him for various reasons. Who knows what the driving force is behind this commitment? Some guesses have already been mentioned here. Could also be they wanted to assure Cam that there’d be a bigger body on the team. Pretty much guaranteeing him he won’t ever play the 5 here, like they were forced to do with an undersized Omier. 🤷‍♂️

Developmental player. Most likely redshirts. I'm sure we'll be very aggressive in the portal again.

Now Miami is too good for the #78 player on the nation? Gtfoh. Give me all the top 100 kids.

Top 100 doesn't guarantee a thing. This ain't football. After top 20-30, it's a crap shoot many times. Plenty of Top 100 kids who didn't amount to much at the next level. I've seen many end up at the D2 & D3 level by the time it's all said and done. With the transfer portal and NIL now in play, there's no reason for Miami to settle on a high school prospect. Time to raise the bar.GO CANES!!
