Talk to me about the difference between the 3-4 that Golden/D'onofrio runs and the 3-4 that Saban runs.

I've never really taken the time to analyze Saban's defense and I'd like to know of some of the things that he does differently than Golden/D'onofrio.

I mean, his defense is comparable to what we want to be, right?

For one thing, when the ball is hiked Bama doesnt fall to the ground and **** their own face, soooo, they got they going for them.
 
Alabama has 4 & 5* players running a better system.

They play more 1 high and their back 7 play match zone. They read the routes and react to them. In a cover 3 if the inside receiver goes vertical the linebacker carries him through the seam. Our defense seems to drop to areas and let guys run free.

We play match zone as well, but our LBs suck at it. Bama is being taught to do it by the guy who basically invented it. Our guys are taught by Mike Barrow.

Bama shifts between Cover 3 pattern match and Man-Free. We rarely play man-free. When we play man it's usually Man-2, and only on 3rd down.
Bama's front is not 2-gap outside of the NT (from what I understand).
