The ship has sailed but there are some Flowers fans on here.

-Recently camped at Auburn
-Learned some new techniques from OC Rhett Lashlie
-Claims offers from Tennessee, Nebraska, Marshall, West Virginia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Miss St., Kentucky, Cincinnati, USF, and UCF
-Says Auburn will evaluate him more before they offer and get back to him before the season starts
-Has a top 4 of Tennessee, Nebraska, Marshall, and West Virginia
-Flowers is also a standout safety at Miami Jackson, but is determined to play QB in college
-Says he compares himself to Wilson and Brees
-Says he brings a lot to the table with his arm strength, accuracy, and his legs
-Says most QBs get 2-3 yards and go down, but not him
-Flowers is the #2 rated dual-threat QB by 247

I wish Flowers would've committed after signing day like he said. I don't want to diss any other kids so that's all I'll say about that.

So let's say the Bama offer was legit and he really put out a top four that seems to fit his style.. good for him I say. Choose what's best for you no matter how big an offer is from someone.

Take this kid man. This is the one kid in this class that you just take and figure it out. If nothing else, come up with a trick package for him down the line. You don't let top 10 qb's with interest in your hometown walk without a fight.

We already have one pure pocket passer in Kaaya so I'm not sure what the point of trying to bring in 2 left shoes is. Get a pure pocket guy and scrambler and see who is better in camp.

Isn't that what the "Athlete" label was created for?

For guys who are tweeners, but are determined to play a certain position in college.

Bring the kid in, promise him a legitimate shot at QB, and if it doesn't work out, move him to another position.

SEC teams do this ALL THE ******* TIME. Those coaches tell the kids what they want to hear.

It's not a lie if you actually give him a shot at QB. Worst thing that could happen is that the kid proves the coach wrong, or you move him to the other position and the kid transfers.

We cannot lose guys like Flowers. They usually just end up beasting it at whatever school they go to, regardless of position.

If he is not willing (in conversation with the coaches) to change position, this is not a take until after signing day when there is room in the class.
he appears to be a great athlete, and i am not saying he can't be a big time qb. but if he is unwilling to change positions and ends up transferring out,
it will have been a huge mistake to sacrifice a year of development for a DT or DE for with big upside for example, on a kid we knew would rather play qb for marshall.

this is even less of a take if there are any scholarships lost in 6 weeks when we hear from the coi again (at least until he says he doesnt mind
changing position a-la the youngest harris at BTW) since balanced long term roster depth might very well become even more important if the 15 class is minus 3-5 schollys.

imo

There will be no further sanctions UM gets timed served or NCAA gets the mother of All lawsuits which will air ALL the dirty laundry in college football, especially with the sweet heart deals Miss St, just got and the absurd slap on the wrist gift Tenn recieved from the NCAA.

An Bama having players who can are barely literate based on their wonderlic test, yet they some how got into college and remained eligible at Bama. Or julio Jones 10 custom suits wortha t least $500 a piece.

Golden is trying to be a straight up guy. If Flowers thnks he might be the next Wilson in the NFL, then let him puruse that dream at a school with history of success with dual types. THE U has always been about pocket passers. Harris is starting to realize that he might not be NFL type QB and he wants that NFL career like his brother. Who wouldn't? Sure it would be nice to have Flowers come in at saftey, but to decieve him can only lead to locker room problems. If the staff doesn't see him as qb then he can't get fair shot. Let the kid go with our best wishes.

Exactly what GatorHater said. Yeah it would be GREAT if this kid pulled an "Anquan Boldin". Came in as a QB. Realized VERY quickly he would never be a QB on the D1 level and immediately switched to WR. Rest is history. This kid seems dead set on playing QB and would cause a mutiny in the locker room if a coach even approached him about switching. Not worth it and frankly hes not worth it. Not worth ruining rships in Dade and having Luke going back to writing negative articles in the Miami Times about how Al. Let him go. Maybe we get lucky and he comes to his senses after the season like it seems Treon has.

Oh I believe he has an Alabama offer, just not at QB. Which is why they arent at the top of his list, but he can still say "I have an offer from Bama".

Im sure Golden has been pretty straight up with the kid and told him we only want him as an Athlete most likely headed to DB, which he doesnt want.

And at the end of the day, he and his coach arent stupid. SOME programs, most OOS, can lie to the kid and jerk him around, and if they burn a bridge, oh well. But with him being local, we CANT jerk him around and lie to him, or we poison another local school in our community. So Golden doesnt have the flexibility to lie and jerk this kid around that other schools have.

If no other school is serious about him playing qb, I can see Marshall taking him to replace Cato... If I played defense against Jackson I'll send Flowers highlight tape to show how bad I was killing their oline... The kid constantly ran for his life and made plays... I think most if these guys want is an opportunity to play qb... If they are beat out then they'll move to another position...

He's a play maker. He wants the ball. He's been successful. It would be tough to sell a guy like that to play defense until he has struggled at quarterback. I say bring him in at quarterback. If he can beat out the other guys, then he is a stud, heisman potential. If he struggles at quarterback, he might consider switching positions.

I say take a risk and offer this guy at quarterback. The more play makers we have on our roster, the better.
