I'm not saying to myself...."Well why didnt we even go after this kid? He wanted to come but we didnt even offer. He was a local stud and now he's going to (insert out of state school here)

I remember saying this about....

Jayron Hosley (wanted to come here bad ala Jawand Blue and Lockhart)
Gio Bernard (local RB BALLER who would've come if offered)
Devonta Freeman (First offer was from facking UGA. We didnt offer until Golden was hired. Local stud we didnt even recruit)
Rashad Greene (Kid must have felt like **** seeing Dorsett getting all the love)
Cody Riggs (Instead we take Keion Payne SMH. Riggs was begging for that offer)
James White (I know hindsight is 20-20 and nobody really knew kid was that good BUTTTTT....With Golden's new camp procedures Im sure we dig this kid up out of the rough. No doubt in my mind)

These are just a few that were KNOWN BALLERS that I was like WTF? Why didnt we go after that kid?

Now I know there will be some this year that we didnt find and that nobody really would consider that will blow up. But I wont feel as bad as I did with the above as WE ALL KNEW they should have been offered and signed.

I dont have that feeling this year. I feel at peace knowing that we offered all the ballers we could. The ones we didnt get, we missed bcuz they just didnt want to be here. But I feel like we turned over every stone and I can live with that.

Golden would not have let Jayron and Bernard leave South Florida. I have not been this excited about U footbal in a long time

We recruited Rashad Greene pretty hard, but guys like Freeman, Bernard, Riggs, and Hosley were pretty much ignored. I don't think we really contacted Freeman until Golden took over and he made a last ditch effort at him.

We did a poor job with Rashad Green if you think about it. How hard did we really go after him? Really?

Did we go Tracy Howard hard? I mean, Its an exact situation between Tracy/Malcolm and Greene/Dorsett. Did we go as hard as we did with Tracy for this local baller?

No we did not. We had all the leverage in the world with his teammate already committed. WE DID NOT GO HARD AFTER GREENE. We showed his boy all the love and as soon as we saw Greene wasnt interested, we backed off.

Tracy wasnt interested in Miami until last week. You think Golden slows down on Greene had he been here last year?

Well, I mean I wasn't in the room making phone calls but by all accounts, yes we went after him hard. We may have been a little bit late on him though IIRC.

Watkins is one I wonder about. If Golden was here Crawford (his boy) would have already been in the fold and working Watkins. Crawford was too short for Shannon.

In this day n age in recruitin that is just the kiss of death, specially for elite players.

Ugh.....yeah.

You want to talk about a Tracy/Malcolm situation to compare, its Sammy/Dallas not Rashad/PD.

Dallas Crawford would have been another player on the list along with Hosley, Gio Bernard, White ,etc....

Thank goodness Golden saved our asses on that one. Kid wouldve balled out at yet another out of state school.

Dallas Crawford by all accounts is the most versatile player on this team. Kid can play S, CB, RB, QB, Punt return, Kick return.............Fack man Im ****ed just thinking about why the previuos staff didnt offer him. WTF?

Im so thankful Golden is here.

So tell me, why are we late on a baller at a position of need?(We only took ONE WR the previous 2 years)

Why did we allow FSU to come in and steal him?

I personally think our last regime felt that since they are so close to home that they didnt have to recruit them as relentlessly as they shouldve, and that would be a huge mistake. A very simple answer could be that maybe our past HC and crew werent totally competent.

Let me also add that im not sure about a guy like Rashad Greenes true intererst in us. Did he rly open up his mind to being a Cane? I couldnt tell you that bro but you got to have a coaching staff that works on these kids day in and day out showin them how much we need them.

You are just wrong in this case, stop. He didnt want to come here. Just focus on the rest of your list since you dont know much about Greene's recruitment.

FSU may have beat us to the punch with him but we were all over him as early as the summer of that cycle so there's no time excuse thats acceptable.

Of course I think that with Golden and Co. we would have seen a different theme as far as recruiting goes. Just saying its not really fair to group Greene in with the rest of those guys because we went after him hard (whatever that equates to with the previous staff) and ignored the rest.

But I am with ya, Ringz, whole new ballgame out there.

Attacked? Come on man, we are on the same side here.

Bottom line is that Golden actually seems to have a plan whereas his predecessors (i.e., Shannon and Coker) didn't. It's been mentioned many times but it cannot be overstated -- if Golden can recruit at Temple he can recruit anywhere.
