For some quality LULZ

There are 9 threads calling for Johnson to be fired. One thread telling the fans to relax because they lost to a good Miami team, but even that thread turned into a *****fest. I love that it's not us doing it for once.

Paul Johnson is a miserable **** who sucks, but one thing I've noticed is that their fans actually believe they are some big time program that just needs a HC. Pretty wacky stuff.

Pretty creative fans.
Loved the one guy who hates Notre Dame and says the next time he goes to South Bend he's going to bring a big bag of tater tots and throw them on the field yelling, "Famine!"

Don't think he knows that there's probably not one Irish native playing for Notre Dame, but still an "A" for creativity.

If you go through the game thread, you will understand the potential our fan base has for fault, "bench Morris", "cut Duke", "get new coordinators". People need to get a grip and have faith in the tie.

I think Golden and Johnson are actually similar in some ways. They are system guys.

Johnson is smart enough to realize that he will never be able to recruit A+ talent because the academics are too hard (unlike even schools like Stanford or Duke, it's tough to hide when you have to major in engineering). For that reason he installed a system that will always give them a shot to win, and probably has made them more competitive over the long-run.

Golden, on the other hand, knows that we can recruit the best talent, and did not compromise on scheme to win in the short term. No that we are starting to get the players in place it is paying dividends.

exactly. it's like high school teams that play flexbone and winged-t because they rely a lot more on finesse and it can make up for shortcomings on size, strength, and speed. in college it's even more effective because you can cut downfield. gt will never be a top-tier team again with the way college athletes are now so they are pretty lucky to have a guy that can win using much less than other programs.

that being said, johnson is still a c*ck.

O'Leary was able to get around some of the academic requirements they had, but I've heard from Tech fans they got rid of those "loopholes" about 10 years ago.

god that link ****es me off-

"The ACC looks stronger than usual, but is that really saying much? VT has a good defense, but their offense is worse than ours and they struggled with East Carolina/Marshall and lost convincingly to the only good team on their schedule. Miami should have lost to UF and will lose a couple of games before the season ends."

I could handle losing to FSU and then then Clemson in the ACC title game. I would be really disappointed especially if we lost to anyone else but these teams. Just being realistic, both teams are better than us. We are closing the gap though.

Those clowns buy that, after we sack caused fumble their *** and pick six them on back to back plays against their **** colored ants, that Miami didn't earn those exact type of plays against Florida?

No worries. 5-0 run against them. Enjoy Paul Johnson, a miserable **** for a miserable fanbase.

You don't have to major in engineering at GT

If Stanford can figure out how to succeed in CFB and not hurt their academic reputation or
standing then GT can and should do the same. Georgia Tech can do better there are always coaches that can maximize the talent they have or that's available to them. Paul Johnson does not do that in the least bit. He runs an antiquated system. But he can stay there forever for all I care.

Sorry, but Ga Tech does not remotely have the cache of Stanford. Also, the campus in Palo Alto is paradise, especially compared w/ GA Tech's. A more comparable comparison would be Northwestern or Rice. Stanford is a different league, and would win the head-to-head recruiting battles against GA Tech 9 times out of 10.

My post was more in reference to academics. But Northwestern is another good example. Also GT sits in one of the top states for football talent. I don't know what their academic restrictions are but a division 1 school located in Georgia should be able to recruit very well. Regardless, I think they can find a coach that can do more with whatever talent they pull in.

I don't pretend to be an expert, but I have heard from some alumni that you do. It may be that you just have to pass several freshman engineering classes, but, either way and per some other posts, that would explain why schools with equivalent academic reputations (and Georgia Tech has a VERY good academic reputation, just narrowly focused) are able to recruit. There are a number of football players who simply couldn't passed calculus based physics, not matter how much tutoring they got.
