Happy Sunday Canes! Read a lot on here, and I'm in need of a little "insight" from the regulars. I have only been fortunate enough to catch games in NC, but am planning my trip to Sun Life for the FL game now. Will be flying in to Ft Lauderdale. Any tips/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Where to stay, where to play, eat, etc. Also best options for getting to and from game. (train, bus , cab, rental...) Thanks for any help offered to make our gameday exp. enjoyable! :neonu:

stay in Ft Lauderdale and catch a ride to the game unless you want the SOBE experience.

also riding through overtown is an absolute must for any tourist.

Agree stay in ft. Lauderdale for convenience, or even Hollywood. I like Westin diplomat on the beach there when I come in for games. Sorta central even if not crazy. Not too far from Gulf Stream either.

I`m not sure if he was kidding or not, but I would stay away from the Overtown area. It`s not the best area of South Florida and I`m surprised a Cane would recommend it as a "must see"area to a fellow Cane.

Hollywood/Ft.Lauderdale is the place to stay if your looking for convenience. Try the Tipsy Boar, great new gastropub in Hollywood.
I'd also recommend a rental car, then you control your schedule, I've also heard taxi's are a bytch after the game.

Make sure you go to the Hard rock cafe its not to far from the air port you will be sure to run into some cane fans there... you should get a hotel in ft.lauderdale its not to far from the stadium... good luck and be safe

First of all it depends what your budget is? If you're coming in and not gonna do it on the cheap, stay in Miami, if you stay in Lauderdale, definitely the W, and Steak 954 is a great place to eat with your girl, I'm assuming, but just in case, your significant other. But other than that, buddy Miami is the place for all the hot spots, and restaraunts, Coral Gables alone you can go nuts, Houston's (I know it's called Hillstone but its always Houston and they are all the same company), you want burger? Shake Shack right across from the school, Whisk, The Eating House. Bro take your pick. Rent a car and go on your own schedule, and that way you can arrive at the tailgate at whatever time you want and stay and party after the game as well.

But again this all depends on your budget for this trip

Let me be the first to recommend El Palacio.

Seriously though, Priceline is your friend. Also check the deal sites like Groupon, Travelzoo and Living Social. Using those four websites I haven't paid anywhere near full price for a hotel in a decade.

One can certainly drive through Overtown, and another one that's fun is Beans and Franks, but you'll need a turret gunner and a tailgunner.

Like the beer trucks have.

I believe ur referring to the "pork n bean" or "poken bean" projects my Caucasian brother.

Be sure to check out club pickle. Ask for a guy named Nites at the door. If you ask him about his playing days at Michigan State, he'll throw you a freebie.

if you made it down to Miami, try to stop by the Coral Gables campus. yeah it's a bit of a drive, but you can buy all your gear AND take a picture in front of this
