First of I want to say I've been a Hurricanes fan since 1980 and had the privilege of watching our 1st championship in the Orange Bowl against Nebraska..
That being said---If we're so much improved, more experienced, better conditioned with better attitudes,,,, WHY do the polls have us ranked behind--Fl.State--Clemson--Louisville--UNC--Va. Tech--Ga.Tech--Duke--and God forbid Pittsburg? Florida and the disaster they had last year are coming in as a top 25 team..
Why does the most trusted Danny Sheridan and the Vegas Boys have us somewhere around a top 35 team nationally?
Why did Sports Illustrated not even rate us as an honorable mentioned team?
In that same breath they declared Petrino as the offensive genius who will challenge FSU for supremacy in the ACC.
Why did Kirk Herbstreit jump on "Louisville's gonna be great bandwagon"?

What is it the pollsters know that I don't?....Is Belief in this team not enough to make them winners?

Simple really. Our defense was putrid last year and our QB position is a huge question mark. These pollsters do not watch the team as closely as we do. They take a birds eye view of all teams.

Where did all the purported experts have Auburn ranked last year before the season? How about Notre Shame the year before?

After our season fell apart last year and the horrible showing against UL in the bowl game, who would have us anywhere near the top 25? We got decimated in the game against Louisville, I watch the whole **** game here in Orlando! With that said, the team does look much improved and I believe this year we will greatly outperform the expectations!
 
I am sure they are basing it purely off our anemic defensive showing the last couple yrs and the fact we are breaking in a new qb. Then again, who gives a rat's *** what they have us ranked at the moment. We need to prove it on the field.
 
Losing 4 of the last 6 games does that to a football team. Also getting thumped by Louisville in the Bowl Game is the freshest memory of the Canes for the far away prognosticators. But at ACC media day the Canes were the choice to win the Coastal Division.

Canes were picked to win 7 games at Vegas last year, they won 9 and that was without Duke! Add a healthy Duke and it's at least another W on the board. I think the Canes win 10 games this year. Don't listen to outside opinions, FSU started the season ranked 15th last year. Pre season rankings mean jack ****. New year, new team. And this team is hungry. 11 days. Can't wait

Close this thread the **** down!!!! There are four or five teams a year that go on to have substantially better years than their pre season records, and vegas had them to be......
 
We should just increase the size of the chip on our shoulders, if that doesn't do it, then look at Louisville tape from last years shytkicking.. Time to put the big boy pants back on and prove it on the field, bottom line.

Last year they had Georgia #5, Florida #10, Texas #15, Michigan #17, Boise State #19, TCU # 20, Northwestern #22, & Oregon State #25 - 32% of the Pre-Season top 25 weren't on the Final List..... On the other hand #2 Auburn, #3 Michigan State, #5 Missouri, #10 UCF, #13 Baylor, #21 Arizona State, #23 Duke, #24 Vanderbilt, #25 Washington - 36% of the Final top 25 weren't on the Pre-Season Poll.....
What's that say about the Poll's? A lot of things can decide W's & L's it's just not the talent on the field.... Look at the missed field goal returned for TD in Bama vs. Auburn game, & the pass deflection in the Georgia vs. Auburn game...

Thanks, sh1tzee. That is exactly why I said the other day that preseason polls are for retards. They're completely useless and based on absolutely nothing empirical.
