The University of Miami women’s basketball team put together a tremendous defensive performance Sunday evening at Syracuse (7-9, 1-4); however, they fell to the Orange by a final score of 66-61, as their offense faltered throughout the game.

The loss for the Hurricanes (11-5, 1-4) marked their fourth consecutive defeat.

Since football was sitting at 9-0 it’s been a nightmare for Hurricanes athletics. Women were sitting at 11-1 and have realistic chance of finishing below .500 with the schedule they have left.

View from my seat on Sunday. It’s beyond obvious that this is an extremely flawed team and an extremely weak OOC slate had us believing lies. This was the first time I saw the team in person this season, and the lack of size is jarring. Syracuse was in most cases a head taller across the board. It doesn’t help that our bigs are incapable of playing big. They don’t set good screens, rarely provide resistance at the rim and the amount of missed bunnies is absurdly high, even for a womens team. The fact that the smallest player on the roster is the best rebounder is an indictment of how bad these bigs are…

I think Cullop has to adjust her rotations, you can’t play the two primary bigs together, they clog up the floor and provide little defensively. Go small and try to make games into a track meet. Then again, considering how bad this team is at avoiding turnovers, that’s likely a fools errand. This team just isn’t good at playing sound basketball.

Miami D sucks!! the bigs & the guards are soft!! maybe if they played defence like they dance and post on tiktok they can win some games Miami is paying these players a lot of money. wake up coach please!!
