Earlier this week, I spotlighted Miami defensive end commit D.J. Johnson. This edition of the film room features Canes DE commit Jonathan Garvin, out of Lake Worth HS (FL).

Garvin committed to the Canes last month and has been on a tear this season. He has 12 sacks on the season including 7 in the preseason game against Glades Central. As you can see below, the competition is not incredible but he flashes elite burst and length as a pass rusher off the edge. Once refined, he looks like he could be a force. Check out some of his top plays on the season.

Kool has a great eye for d line talent almost in a mad scientists way, coach coley was the same way with the QBS.

Based off of the burst he has after he catches the pick, he should be a 5 star. Kid is a freak.

I love the future of our DL. DL recruiting and OL recruiting will bring us back to the elite.

That first step is freaking unnatural. There's no defending that.

LOL at teams trying to block these DEs we're bringing in

Not only does this kid look to have an amazing amount of athletic ability, he also looks to have a wayyyy above average football sense. Love how he sniffed out that screen pass. Completely saw it coming, and baited the QB. You can't coach football sense like that. Think Ed Reed on the D-line.

His burst is track like. Thing is he's not out of control with it as we see him diagnose a screen in one clip and a draw in another. As a EE (?) he'll be 240 and a lot stronger by spring and or spring game.

This is the way you build a true Miami Hurricane line. Speed, aggression, intensity and straight badasses. Next year's dline can be elite
