I’ve said more times than I can count over the years that S&C depends heavily on the type of kid you’re recruiting. A strength and conditioning coach’s job gets easier when you don’t have to ride kids to take care of their health and nutrition when you’re not with them.
There’s too many hours of the day that a coach spends away from them
You also need schemes that allow your offense and defense to play downhill. It makes your players look bigger and faster
All that said, early returns on this guy are good. Last year this game we beat them up just didn’t beat them
Last week we heard Ohio coach say how beat up they were. I’ve been rewatching and I expect A&M to be living in the ice baths this week
We physically kicked the **** out of them
Even smaller guys like Couch were knocking people backwards and 99% of the hits I saw were us guys cracking their 5 star off the bus players helmets. It might be 100% of the time actually but I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt
So in the same vein where I think an S&C coach takes too much blame here, I also don’t want to give him too much credit either, but I will say we have a really good mix of hard working players, hard working coaches, and a desire to physically dominate the opponent
This pleases me
