Official Fall PractiSe #6: Tuesday August 6

@Dwinstitles You don't have any reservations about DT after Barrow? I am reading about how great Campbell is doing, and to me, all that does is raise red flags about Horton's health, Cook's ability to be anything more than another Gore, Moten's progress and Clark's very existence.
I’m hoping for Scott and Jones do be something this season cause DT after Barrow I do not trust at all

I agree

I remember in 2022 some interview with Steele where he was genuinely concerned about this team. Before MTSU for example. It wasn’t coach speak. I like the insight Guidry and Dawson give even if it’s not something the fans want to hear. Actually I prefer that.
Man steele was the most insightful interview we had in a while lol i usually never watch but he always felt genuine

Im not even high on dawson i think he is mid but im not worried about the offense, secondary is my main concern. The offense has proven talent at every position besides left guard, even if they aren’t all great players i know its someone who has played well at every position.

Secondary is where im like ok dp2 and powell i know for sure can play, everyone else?Plus a new coach? Idk... I like hill i think he transitions here well but still gotta see it. Harris and damari? I have hope but we shouldn’t be having those kinda unknowns for a team thats supposed to be 9 wins and above guaranteed

And im not one to just chalk it up to the Dline covering everything up, there are too many snaps in a game to not get exposed if you have a weakness in your secondary

Go on? Who we talking about

Let me just try to provide some perspective.

From a FAN standpoint, we hear the names of recruits for probably two full years before they ever enroll (or at least ONE full year before enrollment). To the FANS, we may have an accelerated expectation level because we have been "waiting" to hear good news about on-field contributions for so long.

But to the PLAYERS, they are coming straight out of high school in most cases, and have to gain weight, technique, playbook awareness, etc.

So if you don't hear a kid's name right out of the box...there's nothing that is really wrong...just be patient, give it time, and let the players develop as they will.
Very well said. It's especially true for players in the trenches. There are not many Francis Mauigoa and Ruben Bains out there. Most don't even start to contribute until the mid way point in their 2nd or start of their 3rd year.
