espn came out with their AA team.

just for kicks, we face an AA:

TE Teiler Eiffert from notre dame - here's hoping RBuchanon's size, speed, athleticism and experience really make the difference against this guy. He is really good and I would say a matchup problem with most LB's but Rbuchannon has legit physical tools to stay with him.

OG Jonathan Cooper from unc - not sure how the rest of unc's line is. If he's it, then one guy will not be able to make a huge difference. Either way, this is another thread where the weaknesses of our team (LB and DL) can be glaring.

OT Oday Aboushi from uva - another lineman,

LB Manti Te'o from notre dame - geeeez a guy on both sides.

CB David Amerson from ncst. - admittedly, i don't know much about ncst.

Aside from the UM angle, I find it interesting that four guys from the acc are in this AA list and that is without fsu and miami in prominence. It also supports the numbers that the ACC has put more players in the league the last few years and if i'm notmistaken the acc ranks second (?) in the nfl with most players by conference (?).

Amerson had 13 interceptions last year.

13 ints!?!!! wow. how do you not leave to the league after a season like that?

Honestly, not as high on Amerson as every one else. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great cornerback and has an affinity for the ball, but don't let that INT # fool you. Go back and watch all of his INTs last year. A lot of his interceptions were from a QB throwing it short or just a bad pass into double multiple coverage (where he was a good 3-4 yards off the dude). Hardly any were one-on-one, lockdown coverage. All but two of his INTs came from interception prone QBs (bottom half of CFB in interceptions thrown).

I'm waiting on this year to see if it is a fluke or not. Though I will keep in mind he won't get thrown to as much.
Not wanting to argue, but isn't that all true of most interceptions? I think so. Also, it takes a lot of luck for anyone to get 13 ints. The guy could be much better player this year and get 5 ints.

Saying Amerson's INT # from last year was just due to bad throws mainly is like saying Ed Reed's INT's he's had in his career is the product of bad QB play.

Two things that a lot of D1 DB's can't do: one, you have to put yourself in position to make the play on those badly thrown balls. Two--you have to catch the ball. Amerson does both of those things as good as anyone.

Give Amerson credit--you don't get 13 INT's in a season w/o having some modicum of skill. I did exactly what you said--I went back and watched the video of all of his INT's from last year...some were bad throws, but they were into a zone and he played where he was supposed to...and when the ball came, he attacked it. Dude had about 3/4 of his picks in zone coverages. The ones he got in man coverage, he was physical with the wideout, and sometimes he got lucky with a tipped ball that he caught off the ricochet.

I'm not a fan, but I'm not a hater either. Dude's a good player. I will be interested to see if he can keep up this clip of INT's this season though. Hopefully he won't have a chance at any against us.

I'm not hating on him. I said I think he is a great cornerback and has an affinity for the ball. I just think his INTs are blown out of proportion when you go back and look at them. Especially coming from interception prone teams. Basically what I was saying is that he's a great cornerback, but I wouldn't be afraid of him if we had a proven good QB. For example, I think Tennessee will tear NCST's secondary apart with Bray at QB and their WR corps.

His INT numbers will drop, probably significantly, this year. But mainly because QBs won't throw near him, and 13 is just a retarded amount of INTs anyway.
All of that is fair to say, except for the part about Tennessee. Da'rick Rogers got dismissed from the team due to a failed drug test--****, he's already enrolled at Tennessee Tech. Justin Hunter is still a darn good WR, but past him--no huge playmakers return. Cordarelle Patterson might end up being a Juco gem for them, but until then, for Bray--it's Justin Hunter, the FB (Bartholomew), or the TE (Rivera).

I see where you're coming from though.
