Everyone’s “side” rival

some years it makes me a certain type of way that we aren’t anyone’s “main” rival and don’t have a end of season rivalry game.

ND has USC
FSU and Florida have each other
Va Tech has UVA.

If we tried to force a Miami vs ATL…GaTech has UGA.

We are the rival on the side.

Yeah, but everyone always qualifies it with "back in the day."

That's like saying Army was a powerhouse.... Back in the 50s.

FSU is our big rival. That's really it. VT and BC were there for a bit. ND got heated and all but we've only played a few times the last 30 years.

In a way we have kept our independence. We don't need what the other schools have. Some of these rivalries are just being hyped up to try and get ratings.
This is a TV show people. We use kids while they can play and discard them when they can't. The price of entertainment.

Because the Florida FSU game is historically this weekend. Like historically A&M vs Texas is this weekend, but Texas’s main rival has always and will always be Oklahoma, which is played earlier in the year.

I think it would be nice to have a last game of the year rivalry game. Virginia Tech would’ve filled that bill awhile back. Not so sure about that now.

I do wish we played FSU to end the year. It should be set up that one of Miami or FSU goes to the title game just how Big10 has been set up lately. IMO UGA/UF should be the rivalry game this week, along with us and FSU.

I guess the theory is that it'd be back-to-back weeks of FSU v Miami (y'know, when they initially set up the divisions and thought we'd be playing each other in the ACC CG every year).

It's kind of sad that we're packed off to play Syracuse or Pitt or some such on 'Rivalry weekend', but it is what it is.
 
IMO, it does suck that Miami doesn't play a rival on rivalry week, but it is what it is and has been that way forever.

What REALLY sucks is Miami only plays one actual rival every year - FSU. The golden age was the mid-80's - Florida in September, FSU in October, and ND in November every year. Oh well, we finally get the triumverate again next year. Enjoy it folks.
