Hahaha. Ol' "Clay" (his real name is Ricky) with the incessant ratings talk. Same dude that used to do the incessant gO WOke GO brOkE! shtick with the NFL and NBA ratings too.
Dude shouid stick to what's really important in life....getting kicked out of little league games and thinking his version of the story actually makes him look good.
10000%. If you do it right it's verrrry lucrative- on all sides of the ideological spectrum. He’s playing a character because he realizes how much he cashes in on this shtick
I don't really like eSECpn so I don't relish defending them but they're fine and will be more than fine- especially since they can bundle their streaming services with Disney's now.espn has had to lay people off and will continue to have to do more. Disney as a whole won't be largely affected but espn itself is not doing well
People see ESPN laying off marginal employees and assume it's because they're losing money but it's really just a re-allocation of funds. They'd rather sink huge amounts of money into broadcast rights and on air personalities that actually move the needle than employ 70,000 no name Sports Center hosts.I don't really like eSECpn so I don't relish defending them but they're fine and will be more than fine- especially since they can bundle their streaming services with Disney's now.
For every layoff you hear at eSECpn there is a monster contract given to Screamin' A or Troy Aikman or Joe Buck. They're just often choosing to budget for "talent" over the hoi polloi in Bristol.
ESPN+ subscriptions increase to 21.3 million, up 76% from last year

I was with some of my boys last week and this actually came up. Everyone starts from the notion that they don't watch ESPN any more because they don't watch SportsCenter like they did as a kid or hate the debate nonsense or just the liberal bent of the hosts. They don't care what you or anybody else thinks as long as you pay for their service, which is what you'll do if you want to watch games.
ESPN sucks and has been steadily getting worse. So sure, overpay your people, they'll just pass it on to us and have people defending them because Clay Travis bashed them.
They've moved to streaming. ESPN+ is doing very well actually.espn has had to lay people off and will continue to have to do more. Disney as a whole won't be largely affected but espn itself is not doing well
