Most important game: Oct. 17 at North Carolina

Why it’s important: Because it’s a nationally-televised Thursday night game on ESPN that could determine the Coastal Division winner. Neither of these teams was eligible for the postseason last year, but both were in contention to win the division, and should be again. They are both well-coached programs on the rise with veteran quarterbacks looking to build upon last year’s success. Last fall, Miami started off as one of the ACC’s biggest surprises at 3-0 and suffered its first league loss at home to UNC. Had those teams been eligible, that game would have been the difference in a trip to Charlotte to play for the ACC championship. In fact, North Carolina has self-proclaimed itself 2012 Coastal Division champs, and even purchased rings as proof. This will be a tough test for Miami because it will be the first game of the season they have to leave the state for. While home field advantage will work in the Canes’ favor early, their most important game will also be their first out of state.

Thoughts?? I still say its Florida because that sets the tone to the entire season even though it has no bearings on the ACC race.

I agree only from the standpoint that while UF and FSU are bigger games, they are both games we will not be favored in. The biggest thing that I want changed going forward is winning the games we are supposed to win, something we have not done in a long long time. We should win every game on our schedule sans UF and FSU, and UNC being the toss up. If we pull one or two versus those teams, great but I'm not counting on it, but we better beat UVA, GT, UNC etc....

Not if, but when we murder Florida by 14+, its smooth sailing from there. Maybe a couple nail-biters on the way to 13-0, like there always is for every team. Then its on to Pasadena, to do battle with Bama. I'll go with that as our most important game.

These writers don't understand that when the Canes are in top form, winning the ACC just takes care of itself.

UF is our most important game, followed by FSU, followed by V Tech, and then followed by UNC.

@UNC might be our toughest game due to the fact its a Thursday night game in a cool climate facing a veteran QB with Coastal implications on the line.

Wait, why does North Carolina get to proclaim themselves as Coastal Division champs? I thought that b/c UNC, GT, and Miami all tied at 5-3, and each team beat one another, that the nod for champ goes to the highest ranked team...which was Miami.

Most important game is Florida period, if we bust them *** boys we should be able to beat anyone on the schedule.

An OOC is not going to be the most important game to a team that has never won the ACC Championship or played in the game.

To the stupid fan base, it probably is UF but this isn't true.

FSU. I know it ain't our division but IDGAF.

The last time we announced we were back, it was by beating those ****ers. We can do it this year and we need to get them the **** out of our recruiting territory.

That is at least a conference game and matters more to the ACC Champ Race.

Honestly I immediately agreed with your POV, UNC is no doubt a huge game and bigger than the UF game when talking about just this season. I just want to beat those ****suckers so bad in their barn especially how much they have been getting stroked off by the national media the last few years.
