Pros:
1. Elite strength. I've yet to see him get successfully overpowered or bull rushed. Even when Easley was having success against him, it was quickness, not strength. (Nit-Picking.)
2. Once he gets his hands on you, it's over. That is his best trait in terms of NFL draft potential.
3. Immense size. I've stood next to him at school and 6' 6" 320 pounds seems conservative. And the vast majority of it is muscle not fat.
4. Other than against Easley, very disciplined and rarely draws penalties.
5. Gets out in space to run block as good as anybody. Shows ability to shift blocking targets when needing too. Naturally leads the run lane.
6. When pass blocking, unless badly beaten off the snap, is quick enough to slide back into protection and as stated before, it's a done deal when he gets his hands on you.
7. Technically sound to a near pristine level.
8. For 322 pounds, very fast and a good athlete.
9. Excellent condition. Wasn't tired in a fast moving offense that puts stress on offensive linemen and was still fresh at the end of games.
10. Young. Only a true junior. Could develop into, dare I say it, a Bryant McKinnie level of dominance.
Cons:
1. Lacks a mean streak. He is not soft by any means, far from it, but the bite your nose off mentality that our linemen have had isn't fully seen in Flowers the way it was in Searcy or Racozky. He'll release blocks and not be provocative the way our guys have been in the past. (Knit picking.)
2. Agile for his size, but not elite agility.
3. Below average speed off the snap of the ball.
4. Occasionally whiffs on blocks, both up top and when going low.
Conclusion:
Give credit to the staff, both football and strength and conditioning, this was a nice find that has been developed from a three star into an absolute stud. Assuming his development follows the pattern it has been, I don't know how he can't be considered co-favorite for the Outland Award next year with the guy with the African name at Texas A&M. Flowers has top 15 pick written all over him. He is better than Cameron Erving by a solid margin. 1st-Team All-ACC and odds on favorite for 1st-Team All-American. I submit to you that he may be the best player on the team.
Side criticism, he's a Kansas City Chiefs fan.
