I think 33 seconds left and ND, with ease, and 1 timeout, moves the ball right down to our 20 or something and gets a FG attempt.

That drive was a microcosm of what's to come from D'Onofrio. Scary stuff.

Ridiculous. That wasn't on No D Ofrio. We just lack the talent and experience to stop a team from getting into short field goal range after starting deep in their own territory with only 33 seconds left.

Worse than that was kicking the FG. Our kicker is shot and our defense sucks. Al needs to start coaching like a guy who has the worst defense in CFB.

And the preceding failure by our offense to do jack**** and decide to try a FG way out of Jake's range, leaving ND with good field position. End of the half was the chance for our offense to get within one posession and pick up some momentum. But they failed.

So wait.

How would you have played that scenario? Zero coverage?

If we do that and get burned, then people are saying, "NOW you wanna get aggressive?!"

Yes I understand... but allowing ND's offense aqnd crappy QB throw 15 yard out routes to the sidelines and get out of bounds with ease... was a f'in disgrace.

We were well within Jake's range. He's hit from 50 before. He's a good kicker.

HOWEVER, he's fried mentally right now. That's what made the decision questionable. I think Golden was giving him a chance to get his confidence back, and I don't have a problem with that decision. If he makes it, he works his way out of the funk, and we're only down 7 going into the half.

Holy **** at the nit picking that goes on here. Hey a-holes we were down 13-3 at the half. The defense did its part first half. The coaches coached well, the only failings were on the offense. Everything fell apart in the second half but the coaches put the players in a position to succeed in that first half. It wasn't taken advantage of hence the wheels came off.

End of story.

That drive was annoying to watch, but the part that really ****ed me off was the pass play w/6 seconds left. You're telling me we don't know they are running a route to the sideline for about 10 yards? Were they going to do anything else right there? Can't believe we didn't challenge that play any better. Forget that it was the same **** they were doing, but there are 6 seconds in the half...c'mon!!

They had a timeout.

You can't concede the middle of the field.

Okay but is there nothing between conceding the middle and just handing the sideline over to them?

The part that killed me was the play before the missed field goal where they went to the sideline to the TE. Gunter was in on the the coverage and he was right there but made no play on the ball. No attempt whatsoever. This was no frustrating, outside of Bush with the coverage in the endzone and the one play Eddie had on third down our secondary never even attempted to make a play on the ball when it was in the air.

Guys I was in a section with all ND fans and they were ****ting themselves in the first half, because their vaunted defense couldnt do a **** thing against us. We killed ourselves with the drops and then they broke our defense in the second half. We catch the passes we are supposed and that is a different game. I still feel overall ND was the better team but we shot ourselves in the foot in this game. I will chalk it up to nerves, but you just cant make those mistakes on the road and get away with it.

Now defense, I have a major problem with our DC but lets not just avoid the problems we have in terms of personnel. I have seen posts on here how there is no way we have less talent than all these other pathetic teams that are ahead of us. The fact of the matter is that we dont have the horses upfront, it just is what it is there. We have raw talent in our front four but it is all young, just look at the roster it is pathetic. Our Lbs are decent but once again young and will get eaten up when our front 4 is that bad. Our secondary? Sure there is a lot of physical talent in terms of speed and athleticism but these guys are not good football players. We got manhandled there no questions about it. The scary part is that while we have young talent there, we need to decide what to do about Coach D'Onfrio right now. If he has to go it better be at the end of this year cause I dont want to see a new scheme when these kids are finally ready physically.
