Heard the interview and talk about "passing the buck"! Love how he apparently doesn't know how many players are on acollege football team's roster, when pressed about how is it fair a coach is responsible for any mistakes made by the players and he is not
 
Maybe the University Presidents don't lose their jobs, but they do get charged with Lack of Institutional Control and that's on their resume and part of their reputation.


The NCAA should get the equivalent, whatever that is, and Emmert can know what it feels like at least.

Thing of it is that the whole analogy doesn't work.

A university president is tasked with much more than just looking over athletics. But the ONLY job of the president of the NCAA is to look over athletics.

A major university has several dozen different departments, from academic depts and research units, to admissions, to fundraising and alumni/community outreach, to grounds crew, to physical plant workers like electricians and building contractors, to athletics, etc.

UM employs more than 13 thousand people. The NCAA employs only a few hundred people, and only a small handful (around 25-30) of them are investigators.

So he fails logical reasoning in addition to accountability and moral reasoning I guess.

Maybe the analogy is head coach takes responsibility for actions of his assistants. Not hidden, secret actions he couldn't have known about. On the record actions paid for by the school's coffers, that he should have known about with reasonable inquiry.

He's a clown.
