Please let them know how you feel. We should match Golden's silence with a flood of e-mails. Here is my e-mail below. Feel free to cut and paste and edit with your own message.

Mr. James and President Shalala:

I am a third generation hurricane alumni (graduating from the law school in 2010) attending University of Miami football, basketball and baseball games with my parents (both alumni) since the late 80s. I now regularly attend road games -- I went to every single game home and away during my third year of law school, and most recently the Russell Athletic Bowl.

The football team helped grow the University and under your leadership the school has blossomed into a top 50 institution. Academics and athletics are not mutually exclusive. A strong football program will up donations across the board and result in additional revenue.

I am frankly dumbfounded that you have not announced a fund raising effort for a stadium (even though no location has been determined). There is no reason not to start earmarking funds for that project and looking towards the future. That investment will be paid off tenfold -- there is a reason why almost every other FBS program has a home.

With that said, I realize that a stadium is not on your radar screen. However, after coach Golden's recent silence -- which is deafening -- finding the new head football coach of the University must be. To that end, hire Butch Davis.

Coach Davis has succeed here before and is driven to succeed again. He restored Miami's image and did things the right way. Please look at his graduation rates and his players track record while they were at Miami, and after they left.

To show my commitment to this process, I will agree to pledge a $1,000 a year to the University of Miami over the next five years if the University hires Coach Davis as its next coach.

Thank you for everything you both do for the University of Miami.

A proud, but concerned alumni,

A stadium and Butch. How creative...

I wrote a similar letter, but only about coaches (hire a proven winner). My two cents....a stadium simply isnt going to happen, due to money, sites, stadium lease, etc. Dont lump a future dream that will likely never happen with a current and pressing need.

If they open that email, they'll never read it. They honestly don't care about your life story and are extremely busy.

If you want to get your point across, your email has got to pass the iPhone test- your subject and main point better be visible in that iPhone inbox screen. Our emails will most likely be deleted immediately, so make sure they get the point just by glancing at your email on their iPhone

Also a more true gauge of Butch was his tenure at UNC, which was less than stellar an keep in mind he was loaded to the gills with NFL talent which he paid for by the way!

Shalala will not risk Butch running amuck at UM. Remember the NCAA is still watching and waiting for any small indiscretion on UM's part in order to drop a hammer on UM. Also keep in mind UM is appealing the loss of 9 scholarships since we have already taken away 10 scholarships, and to go an hire Butch Davis sends the NCAA the wrong message.

Go Canes!

Email sent.

Paranos: you're so good at using google search, why don't you search that Butch Davis has letters from the NCAA stating he was completely absolved of any wrongdoing in the UNC matter.

Not the time nor place for a stadium discussion though.

Thanks for your effort guys. When this is all over flood those inboxes with stadium emails. Change starts somewhere.

I refuse to take that answer there must be a way, there's always without paying an arm or a leg.

Our athletic director needs to take control of the situation. This is a young athletic director early in his career. He has been presented with the difficult situation however this is a "Golden opportunity"(pun intended). James needs to take charge and fire D'nofrio unilaterally. If Al truly wants to stay he will have removed the albatross around his neck and allow the pursuit of a competent D.C. Al doesn't have to do the dirty work in firing his good friend and smells like a rose. If Al can't live without his buddy and wants to leave he can and the University won't be responsible for his buyout. It also gives James instant credibility. If he sits back like a wallflower he will be a Eunich for the rest of his career. Moments like this define careers. Maybe he is taking charge behind the scenes but the natives are restless and want to hear some good news. I just hope the contracts aren't tied together.

Madame President -

I am a native of South Florida and lifetime Hurricane fan. I am currently a season ticket holder and have been for 5 years. I have 3 boys who I enjoy taking to Hurricane sporting events. I live in Palm Beach Gardens and travel over an hour to tailgate with my family and root for the Hurricane Football Team.

I implore you to bring excitement back to our program and hire a guy that knows how to develop an offensive and defensive game scheme that is innovative and produces wins. Its important to see that they can develop young men on the football field. We have not had this since Butch Davis was our head coach. We have not had a smart football team that has played with passion for an entire season in over a decade. It is embarrassing to watch the uninspiring football product that you are putting on the field. Those student athletes you are recruiting to the U deserve more. Case in point -

Since 2007

We are 3-21 vs teams that have finished the season in the AP top 25.

Been outscored 825-464
Or avg score of
34.8 to 19.3.

Our current coach who obviously wants out of South Florida and is way over is head from a coaching standpoint. The last 3 coaches you have hired have been the same way. Honorable men but none of them should have had the honor of coaching what was considered to be the pinnacle of college football. We are now an afterthought.

If you love the U as I know you do - PLEASE PLEASE hire Butch Davis.

Make the commitment to win not just survive - Be bold and do the right thing.

Sincerely,

I'd like to see him do something as well. I agree with you that he should force Al's hand and make him replace our DC, but at this point I want Golden gone also. No way this team will trust him going forward. They already know that he'll be playing the "my alma mater card" if he is forced to return, but whatever face the team puts on most of them are not going to believe in that guy. It's clear by our play that many don't believe in his boy already. I should have listened to Luther's dad! LOL!

My hope is James already has a plan in place and is waiting like a lion in the tall grass to pounce.
