Seems everybody is jumping on rumph but i dont see any elite LBs being landed. Where are the elite d-linemen? Where are all the elite safeties?

Let's be real here the defensive recruiting as whole has to catch up with the offense. If the samething is happening on the entire defensive side then it's time to stop just looking at 1 coach.

The 2016 and 2017 classes were stacked with linebackers. They also have a few in the 2019 class.

Have been saying this....

Nesta DT, Ford DT, Joyner LB, Frierson and Hall at S. All were pretty sought after guys that we got in other spots. The CB debacle is rivaling our DT woes in the past. I mean this is a spot that is supposed to NEVER look like it does at the U. With losing Malek it makes all of this look that much worse. We literally have 1 CB in two classes with the loss of Young. That means we need all these current CBs to pan out and land a stud or two next year because they will surely play as freshman. You do not get back to the top relying in freshman that you have yet to recruit. Or we hit on a big time JC or two this next year. Or get lucky with another Colbert next year.... But it would be real nice to just have guys you are grooming rather than constantly combing the grad transfer wire....

I will be happy when we lock down a couple CBs in the '19 class. But considering the best and only one we had went to FSU and there is not a big list of CBs. It makes this that much harder to swallow. All of the sudden the idea of Nick Roberts ('17 kid we pulled the offer on) looks pretty great.....

Oh well though. No need to tear down the whole staff about it. But that tenth coach needs to be a defensive guy that is a LEGIT recruiter.. Because the O is doing their part for sure...

4 corners are coming in. 3 are 4 stars.

Yes, but there are two Seniors, zero Juniors, and one Soph. So in '19 there will be zero seniors and 1 junior and those four soph, which is why we basically need to hit on everyone of them or we are stuck relying on a freshman to play a LOT of minutes. Let alone the fact that our Junior at that point (Bandy) is like 5'8" and though is VERY good will get beat up by bigger WR.

Additionaly, one of the four coming in is projected as a FS by pretty much everyone around here. So really its three guys that would be sophs with Bandy in two years. Thats all I'm saying. I do think those dudes are good and we will be ok. But with the misses we have had its definitely the biggest area of concern and need. And when you factor in where the U is located and the players they have access to its not a good look at all.

Honestly, I am happy with the class. I was hoping for one of the two AH CBs. Missing on both hurts the numbers a lot. But I never really thought we had a shot at anyone but TC. I always felt like Surtain was SEC bound.

More than anything I love our Defensive front 7. I think they will be so good it will help mask some deficiencies at CB. I don't think its a fire the staff deal, but more the tenth coach needs to be a defensive recruiting ACE!

You are correct.

The entire defensive staff laid an egg.

If we end up with Chatman, that would clearly help our DL - but we'd still be short.
