Though selections won’t be made until September, a host of future Hurricanes have a chance to be part of the next Army All-American Bowl.
The organization released a list of 400 names under consideration for the game, held next Jan. 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio and carried nationwide on NBC.
OT Navaughn Donaldson (Miami Central)
QB N’Kosi Perry (Ocala-Vanguard)
CB Christopher Henderson (Miami-Columbus)
RB Robert Burns (Miami-Gulliver Prep)
DT Jonathan Ford (Fort Lauderdale-Dillard)
LB Waynmon Steed (Miami Central)
WR Kevaughn Dingle (Miami-Carol City)
WR Rodney Scott (Miami Southridge)
Those players comprise the top half of Miami’s 15-member recruiting class. The group is ranked No. 4 nationally by 247Sports’ composite ratings. Donaldson, Perry, Henderson and Burns are four-star prospects.
Many of the uncommitted recruits the Hurricanes are chasing are on the nomination list, including wide receivers Trevon Grimes (Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas) and Jerry Jeudy (Deerfield Beach); offensive lineman Tedarrell Slaton (Plantation-American Heritage); defensive linemen Jarez Parks (Sebastian River) and Zachary Carter (Tampa-Hillsborough); linebackers De’Andre Wilder (Miami-Carol City) and Santino Marchiol (Bradenton-IMG Academy); cornerbacks Latavious Brini (Hialeah-Mater Academy), Marco Wilson (Plantation-American Heritage) and Deejay Dallas (Brunswick, Ga.-Glynn Academy); and safeties Grant Delpit (Houston-Lamar), Daniel Wright (Cardinal Gibbons) and Cyrus ***an (Daytona Beach-Mainland).
Three current Hurricanes from the 2016 signing class played in the game (linebacker Shaquille Quarterman, wide receiver Ahmmon Richards and cornerback Malek Young).
