Carrollton (Ga.) Top247 cornerback
Dorian Barney tells InsideTheU that he plans to be in South Florida on March 3 as the Hurricanes get set to kick off their spring slate.
The Hurricanes offered the nation's No. 7 cornerback in January, but previous relationships with
Zac Etheridge and
Will Harris allowed Miami to quickly make up ground.
"Coach Etheridge, I've been in contact with him since he was at Auburn. I didn't talk to him when he was at Houston, but when I seen he got the job at Miami he hit me up immediately. I think it was like the next day. We've just been building that relationship ever since. With Coach Harris, he was recruiting me when he was at Florida, and then he went to Miami so that's making it a little easier for me to consider them," Barney said. "With [Mario] Cristobal, I just talked to him last week. That was my first time ever talking to him. They're all pretty good guys. [Terry] Jefferson, he's an assistant I've been keeping in contact with."
"Really just the vibe that I catch with them over the phone because I've never seen these guys in person, but you could tell when you're cool or you can hang or you get a good vibe with a person," Barney said.
"I just want to see everything. I just want to build that relationship with the coaches more and more, meet [defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman], and just really see how bad they want me because things are coming to crunch time. Looking forward to setting up my [official visits] before spring ball and then making my decision before my season," Barney said.
