Every year we get our hope up and it seems like very year we strike out on the big fish that would take the class to another level, so is this the year or do we strike out again?

That depends on what your standards are. If winning the coastal is where you set the bar, then we’re killing it. If you want to win national championships, then we’re gonna need to sign about seven more 4/5 star kids on Wednesday to truly stack the cupboard.

Agree....message needs to be sent with these random threads.... some need to catch a temp ban until after NSD

We get it dude. You’re not overly impressed with the class. You don’t need to put this same ish in every single thread

This needs to be locked. What a useless thread. Troll like. Tweed is right. Some of you people need a life.

Yes we strike out. On the path to our next national championship with our best recruiting class in almost two decades.

We’ll talk for days about x’s and o’s during the season....but champions are built on signing day.

Must be nice to be blissfully unaware of that fact. Closing strong vs whiffing on signing day is the difference between being back or not.

Nope we won't. Remember we sign Jeff Thomas last year on NSD and flipped Mike Harley late from WVU. This staff is strong but they won't force kids to be Canes if it's not what they want, which I like about them. They don't reach on players like the past few regimes either. Our class is solid as is but I still think the staff will close strong this year.

We have a good class already in the book but we do need Nesta or someone equal to the a very good class. Getting one or two of those dbs and the Texas stud would make it great. The big thing about getting them all, is that other schools will not have them. That denial of talent is a huge thing we need to get too, where on bench is another nc team instead of being on other team.

Look hoss, everyone is painfully aware that we've missed on guys at the end of the cycle for a while now. It's a thing, we know. Let's not pretend we never land anyone late (Seantrel Henderson, Tracy Howard, Deon Bush, Stacy Coley, Kai-Leon Herbert, etc), but we certainly haven't had a close worthy of fawning editorials from around the recruit-o-sphere. Everyone wants that vibe gone.

Based on the information available to us today, it looks like we're in a really good position to close strong. No, it is not a given. No, it is not written in stone. No, these players have not sworn blood oaths to us. There's obviously reason to doubt given history and the often inscrutable nature of teenagers. But what the **** else are we supposed to do?! Mope all year about how Things Fall Apart? The possibility that we pull off a big signing day is really fun to think about, and there's no real down side. If we stumble, then the board spends the obligatory 3 days imploding and predicting the end times, and then we move on to wondering about spring practices, workouts, and combine numbers, ultimately pleased with the stout class we've already signed. If we pull it off? Imagine how awesome that will feel! If legitimate insiders are intentionally misleading us into thinking we're in a better position than we are, that would be manipulative and ******. The 99% of us other schmos, though? We're taking what we get and enjoying the positivity.

This eternal pessimism you seem to be possessed of simply does not pay. 7/8 more 4/5 star kids? You know good and well that you're setting the bar irrationally high. Even if we get EVERYONE and sign the AH4, Coburn, and Ezzard, giving us a top 3 class, that would only be 6 such players. Why design failure that way? Drop this high stakes doom-and-gloom and recognize that there's a real chance we knock it out of the park. Come on in boys, the water is fine.

Because that’s where the bar is for a national championship contender. Alabama signed 22 four/five stars last year and won the ship this year. We’ve signed 13 so far this cycle.

I want the canes to win national titles. That means we have to recruit like Alabama. Yes, that is a high bar to reach, but that’s why only one team is champion.

I want the old U back.
