3* Rivals LB'er DP.
He was rated the 59th best football player in the state coming out of HS and the 25 best at his position nationally by rivals recruiting.

He is currently projected by CBS Sports as the best ILB in the senior class for the 2015 NFL Draft.
I think he is going to make a very solid pro.

Did this staff do a good job of developing him?

You are correct. Denzel, was a hidden gem here in Coral Gables but very light and undisciplined. You just do not recognize the HS versus the player he is right now.

I wouldn't call him a hidden gem because he had offers from LSU, FSU, Florida, Georgia, SCar, etc....It was just the recruiting sites that underrated him but the big boys knew who he was.

There certainly is a lot more hope in player development with Denzel's class through the current one. Al lot of it has to do with the type of kid that Al has brought in compared to Shannon. Jamal Carter with Tyre Brady working out at beach at 5am is a prime example.

coach sets the level, but players have to have the drive as well. We were recruiting the wrong type of players. 25% of players Shannon recruited wanted it, but he and the other 75% were not capable.

Next year, OP, Gunter, and Felieciano will get drafted. I believe they will have breakout years that will put them on second or third team all-acc, if not first.

Plays with a low center of gravity, which will get him in the League. He's bigger. Faster? I don't know. He needs to key and diagnose faster. His production must increase. Big Mike in front of him should keep more blockers off of him. Needs to have a monster season to be a first rounder.

Anyone have any thoughts as to whether Perryman would be better suited dropping back down into the low 230s to play 4-3 WILL when he gets to the league? Or should he remain at 240+ with all the added bulk and play inside in either a 3-4 or 4-3?

I personally lean towards the former rather than the latter, but was curious to hear some other opinions on that.

I always felt the kid was best suited at Will.

People thinking Perryman is going to be anywhere near the first round

I'm not really sure the round he gets drafted in is really an accurate answer to whether or not he was developed at Miami.

Brandon Harris, Thearon Collier and Davon Johnson was doing the same at that age... It's more to it than gathering at the beach... Instagram wasn't around and Twitter wasn't popular... Development is more than just meeting up at the beach... Our deficiencies stem from something deeper...

+10000000

You look at guys like B. Harris, CMAC, Spence, T3, and Bwash... They worked hard...

Then you had delusional prospects like Futch, Adalrius and Collier who either thought they were better than what they were or lost that fire to play the game...

Then you had the players who waited until the last minute to take it serious like DVD, Sheilds and Sharpton(which is just late development)...

denzel is smart (stayed for another year) plays hard works hard..does not have that natural talent like Sean Spence or even a CMac..but the kid is listening and still learning
...sad part with DP or most of the 3 and now 4 yr players they had no one to look up too or mentor them into maturity..

here is DP a senior still learning moving positions etc..when he should be teaching and mentoring other guys..( he will be mentoring this year)..

I expect a 120+ tackle year if he stays in the middle....he will bust someone hopefully a top ten team and not a cupcake ten yards down the field
we are lucky to have him back
