My text exchange with my former gator boss :crownpour:

Gator: Congrats on your win! (shocking for a gator fan btw)

Me: Thanks. Couldn't believe the defense held on. Easley is the best defensive lineman I've seen in awhile.

Gator: Your defense didn't hold. Sorry to burst your bubble. Our offense stunk up the joint and couldn't capitalize at all when we got into field goal territory.

Me. Typical gator, the defensive had nothing to do with the turnovers. No pressure or big hits or jumping routes.

Gator: I'm gald you recognize that. You are right. It was mostly our terrible quarterback.

Me: He was atrocious. But averaging 2.8 yards per rush will make you put the ball in his hands on third down.

Gator: We dominated the entire game in every statistical category but turnovers. A couple of the fumbles were obviously caused by the canes but the interceptions were bad throws. The blown 2 point conversion (stupid call) was huge as was the missed 4th and inches (how do you not gain inches). Otherwise we dominated. But the score is all that matters.

Got that win was so sweet yesterday. I swear every gator -- even the few that I can tolerate to be friends with -- has a certain level of smug and self righteousness that is repulsive. i hope they are all balling their eyes out to sweet baby jesus tim tebow today.

It's a bitter *** pill for them to swallow, makes the win all the sweeter IMO.
But, but, but, but...you lost!

I can understand the gaytors feelings to an extent. I felt the same for years after our national championship game loss to Penn State. We absolutely dominated that game in all areas except turn overs and final score. (Sound familiar?). Easy to believe we just gave it to them not them winning or deserving the win. After thinking about it over a long time, I've come to realize that, on that night, they were the better team in that they did what they needed to do to win the game with a stellar defensive performance. If we had played them a 10 game series we would probably won 9 out of the 10. But on that particular night they were better and earned the win. A similar situation here. The difference is that most of the gaytor nation will remain in denial.

Glorious!

Funny you brought that up. I emailed Golden something like that today. Told him I now forgave him for being from PSU -- still have not gotten over that lost. Actually our game plan seemed similar to PSU so many years ago -- get lead, then stop what they do best. PSU rushed 3 and dropped 8 forcing us to march distance every drive. JJ never had the patience to keep running; just had to let Vinnie throw. We stopped the run and force them TO pass. They just could not complete enough and we flipped them in the red zone. Funny how much better if feels we the other suck is the victim. This is their wide rights, lefts and missed 2 point conversions. I am glad we don't play then again. Let it their insides out for years. 21-16 FOREVER!

Absolutely agree with the PSU analogy. Thought that way about them for years. It's like they beat everybody 19-16. Opposing teams must've walked off the field thinking "we won that game" and look up to see the scoreboard not in their favor. We made like a half dozen meaningful offensive plays yesterday. Fortunately two were perfect throws for TDs, and one was a two yard run by Duke for 6. That's all we needed, because the D kept forcing errors. Excruciatingly beautiful.

text him... history is fun. We won the first one and the last one. We never lost a bowl to UF. We won the overall series. Lastly, five will always be greater than 3. Looking forward to number six. Go Canes. WE ******* OWN THEM NOW AND FOREVER. "better school too" LOL :ibisroflmao:

Using his logic they were gifted a TD on the blocked punt, the second TD was gifted by us playing a lax defense. Add the over thrown by Morris on 3rd and 24 for an int that was easily a first down (imagine how crushing that would have been for them), and the fantom hold on the Clements run that put us in at least field goal position. We could have easily scored more!!

Plenty of if and buts, and as my grandmother used to say... If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas. Miami earned everything they got in the game and the gator took a loss. They were chickens in the past, and they are again. Wanna try to beat The U, you gotta play The U. Enjoy the loss gator, while we enjoy the win and your ifs and buts.

Tell him to rewatch the game and pay attention to Tracy Howard on his pick. Howard read Driskel like a book the entire play.

How can you beat yourself when you never had a lead?

Tell him we won two categories not one. Turnovers and most importantly " POINTS". Then finish with " have a good day".

they act like it Was a driskell 5 pick game.. 3 fumbles had to do with our effort/ our guys

as someone else said. I come right back with. If we would not of had the punt blocked and let the last garbage time td, the gators were never really in th le game
