Delone Scaife

I honestly believe that Gaynor will be starting at LG next year. He was solid this year for us and he’ll have another year in the weight room..

I’m penciling Scaife in there. Gaynor can learn center.

People here are so quick to annoint Gaynor. He has been underwhelming at times this year and besides, Gauthier gets no love. Gaynor will/should be a rotational guy next year, imo. Scaife is much better.
You’re accusing others of being too quick to jump to views but you didn’t actually read what I wrote.

I didn’t say Gaynor jumps Gauthier. I said he can learn center. Gauthier graduates in a year anyhow. If Gaynor is going to back up a position, I’d rather it’s the one we will need him to play come ‘19. In the meantime, they can compete. And if Gaynor wins the competiton, all the better. Gauthier isn’t an all american.

yeah, didn't mean to direct my response at you - your quote just got invovled in the fray there. Meant to respond to the post above yours.

Have Gaynor learn center, that's fine - we'll need the depth there. As for the post earlier mentioning that Gauthier getting pushed around at times, I know, but Gaynor will be no different. Both guys need more seasoning. Scaife at center is an interesting suggestion I've read on the boards.
I’ve seen the Scaife center discussion, but imo we need him at guard. Gaynor is more powerful than Gauthier, also, just less seasoned. One more year of S&C and I’d hope Gaynor can be as good as Gauthier. At a minimum, we’d have some spare parts which you need on OL. Hoping Reed is ready by ‘19.

What’s up with Lenny Dykstra I thought those Midwest boys were what we needed. What about zalonte also? Any body for the skinny on progress? What about Bar “mitzvah” Milo? Is he even on the team.

From the minute he got on campus, we’ve heard silene. That generally means ‘shown nothing so far,’ considering even nervous twitches on greentree are taken for signs of extraordinary ability.

One more year in S&C and we will see what we have. But considering his calling card was that he was already pretty developed from a training perspective, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Gaynor is not more powerful than gauthier. Gaynor needs to hit the weights.

This this this. The exciting news is that on the interior OL we're starting to get to a point where we have legitimate depth and competition. And by competition, I mean where a good player hopefully gets pushed to be great by another good player, not where we're looking to find a 6th guy who could "hold up" and allow us to stay in the game against Georgia Tech. I wish we would get there at OT - we really need one of Hillary or Herbert to be a dude. Interior OL, RB, TE, WR and DE are finally starting to look close to where we need to be.

Milo needs his walking papers ASAP.

Milo, McCray, Knowles. Dead weight essentially be gone

I mean, I guess. But we are going to be playing under 85 anyway and don't need the space. We have 80 right now including our 20 commits. Looks like we are only going to sign 3 or 4 more guys next month. No need to push anyone out this year. If we need to , McCray and Jahair Jones would be the first ones to go as they are 5th yr seniors that have graduated already, so our obligation has been fulfilled.

Agreed. Competition means good players don’t all start.

OT we are a long ways off on, and I’m skeptical on Herbert and Hillery being more than servicesble as RS freshmen. The ‘19 class will be hugely important for the future of our OT position. But just saying that highlights the mess. ‘19 will be Richt’s fourth season as HC and we may be playing true frosh at at least one OT spot. The OT recruiting misses were ‘15 under Golden and ‘16 under Richt, compounded by the fact that Golden played McDermott, Darling (‘14) and St. Louis (‘15) as true frosh. (St. Louis is good, Jones and Loftus and Milo were wasted spots it seems.) Hopefully Brown turns out to be a player but the lack of rumors to that effect speaks volumes.

Scaife will be getting bumped to an ESPN 300 4 Star soon according to ESPN Gerry Hamilton

You never push out 5th year seniors. You don't get the class counter back and their spot toward the 85 isn't needed as you pointed out. Now Milo, Brown, Tre Johnson... would free up spots for '19.

Knowles, I would keep as he isn't deadweight on ST but isn't starter material on D.

I suspect we will play have over 80 on ships for the first time in 7 years.

Delone Scaife is now 6'5 he will be a OT here. I think he competes with Zalon'tae Hillery for the RT position come spring and wins the job. Scaife and Navaughn Donaldson next to each other for the next 2-3 years is going to be great.

2018 Offensive Line Depth IMO

Not correct. We're at 58 today, 01-02-18. Add the 19 plus Willis and we still have room to sign several more. Also figure Shireffs or Weldon will walk and a couple of dead weight OL...

We have the room, I know. But it does not seem like we're in it for more than 3 or 4 more guys. Aside from that we can only sign 28 because of the initial counter rules. We almost assuredly will be playing well under 85 hence we don't need to clear out "deadweight".

11 kids have left since Feb '17 NSD. We have 28 inital counters and 5-6 open spots toward 85. Between now and August, the 4th departure is a gets us below 85 unless we hand out a ship to a walk-on who has been here for 2 years.

Hillery I’m predicting locals that RT spot up

Based on the Reports Hillery has RT locked up. St. Louis had the best grade this year I believe, so he'll stay where he is. Could look like this left to right-St. Louis, Scaife, Gauthier, Donaldson, Hillery.

I believe Mahoney was better or about the same as Gaynor this year. He needs alot of strength. I wouldnt have him penciled as a starter. Hes been solid so far though as a freshman

when he went to paradise when we offered him...thats the spot they had him at. I remember seeing all of our prospects in the positions they were recruiting them and he was at center in the one on ones. That also was before he gained 2 inches though..but he would be Pouncey level at center. I think Gaynor should work there this spring though as i think Gauthier would be a better guard although he is a sufficient center
