I know...laff laff laff.

Seriously though. If we give up 18-25 points a game the rest of the way in, I'd say we've shown some major improvement. Obviously it's all relative when you give up as many points as we did in the beginning of the year. The back seven could be pretty **** solid next year. We just need immediate help on the DL in the worst way that I can ever remember.

I agree. But, where do you get immediate help from? We better hope the guys we have develop physically during the off season, cause incoming freshmen (even good ones) are going to give us more of the same that we got this year. There is no quick fix on the DL. I know nobody wants to hear it, but the DL is a project.

A dominant Juco DT sure would help

I think we'll have four solid guys at DE next year (Chick, Hamilton, McCord, Hoilett), but we need more depth. DT obviously is where the development is needed in a huge hurry--was very disappointed to hear about Briscoe.

The problem with that theory is whether or not that hypothetical JUCO DT could get qualified to go to school at UM. That's been our problem with pulling JUCO kids for the most part, especially the plug & play type kids that we would need immediate impacts from.

If we can get a stud JUCO kid and he's got the grades to get into UM--by all means, reel him in.

Didn't news come out saying the Briscoe move to Oline was short term?

This is the worst defensive roster I can remember at UM. I'm amazed we can stop anyone, ever.

There will be no quick fixes at DT. There might be less than a half a dozen CFB ready DT's out of the Juco ranks and I do not know if we are in the running for any of them. We have to hope that what we already have on the roster coupled with one or two guys from the '13 class that pan out to give us decent depth. Can a guy like Bryant really come in and make a difference right away? I dunno, I sure as **** hope so.

Just out of sheer curiosity, I went back and looked at the DT national recruiting over the last four years using Scout and Rivals recruiting pages as references. It is amazing how so few teams monopolized the cream of the crop. Most notably, Florida-Florida State-LSU-Alabama. I did not look at the JUCO lists but I think Saban has been making a living off of that as well.

They know it is the most important position, the line. Great lines can mask holes.

people act as if dominant DTs are at JUCO just waiting on an offer from us. They've probably already committed to Bama, USC or one of the top teams in the nation. Biggest help to the defense would be a new DC.

Yes to help with numbers short term.

Well that's great news if so.

Yeah it was short term but the news that he wasn't doing very well at DT is still true. There's a reason why guys like King, Moore, and Ivery are getting reps and looks but Briscoes name was nowhere to be found.

Verily, I love this post
