Obviously we would be pretty thin at linebacker but I think the following guys could all conceivably redshirt:

Thomas
Moten
Jenkins
Harris
Jackson
Owens
Young
Smith
McCray
Mayes
Hester
Gayot

Ok, maybe redshirting all of them is a bit much.

Thomas, Moten, Owens, Young, Hester. Redshirt everybody else.

It would be nice to redshirt Moten, allow him to get stronger to face the grown men inside.

No way we are keeping Thomas off the field.

Yep. Dnofio said CThomas is too good to keep off the field. Anybody know what position he's playing?

I say redshirt them all except Thomas, Owens, and MAYBE Moten depending on if Wyche and Hertolou can be stout for us. We should know that answer by Fall ball.

No way I waste Hester and Gayot this year. Between Carter/Bush/Jenkins/Crawford we should be more then good at safety.

I just dont think Jackson will be ready. And from Spring reports JYoung, although he looked the part body wise, just wasnt mentally there. Deer in headlights. We should be stout with Perryman/Kirby/Blue manning the middle.

Obviously this is if we are 100% injury free. If guys get injured, burn this entire post.

Jackson has one year of football under his belt right? As badly as we need guys who can rush the passer I would think he's in line for a shirt.

I think we've got our four DL who will be brought in to rush the QB on passing downs.

DE McCord
DT Kamalu
DT Thomas
DE AQM

Agreed. I don't think Gayot will see the field because there's the possibility he grows out of S and needs to move down to LB...and that transition will scream for a redshirt.

Hester on the other hand...I think that guy can play from day one.

Can we just take a second to appreciate how physically imposing our two new Safety's are. Both over 200 lbs coming on campus, these kids will be good.

Chad Thomas moving to DT in pass rush situations(it could happen) is my worst fear, cuz it would mean he's not a good pass rusher, and we need Chad to be a beast pass rusher at the d-end not at DT.

Yeah, but right now for this year, he prob won't be our best pass rusher. I mean he could be, but I think our best pass rusher is McCord.

I just did a search on Eddie Johnson and came across an interesting article. We went from LB U to a debacle.

I know its a BR but it does show how we've completely taken ourselves out of the equation of LB U. I forgot about Kevin Nelson and Travis Williams. I was rooting for Nelson after he dissed UF*g later in his recruitment.

I also found this article on Gionni Paul; I think he would've been a really good one for us. Now playing for Erickson at Utah.

Not sure why Miami and Paul had such differences. Any insight?

He's not playing for Erickson. Erickson is Utah's RB coach.

Sorry, I meant Erickson recruited him at ASU while head coach and recalled his recruitment when Miami released him. Major reason he went to Utah.
