let's try to keep it as realistic as possible. if you still haven't come down from the high of our W today, think twice before posting what you want to.

1. would you consider this defense better against the pass or rush? we gave up a decent amount of points today but i think i prefer to play a run-heavy team than a pass-heavy team. it was nice to see some tackles in the backfield today. i don't know if the defense will look as good next week against nc state. do you think our defense gets better and better from here on out or was today a relatively good day where we were able to produce stops against the run?

2. what do you think are our realistic chances of making it to the ACCCG? we've got off to a good start. vt and fsu will probably give us an L or two. we might even see another from a lesser team. despite this, i have a feeling we make it this year for.

i'm interested in hearing what our board's consensus is on this stuff.

I don't think we will make the ACCCG, because I still think we lose a game we shouldn't that throws us off. Beating VT is a must, basically.

1) I think our defense yesterday was more a reflection of the fact GT is so run heavy. How many pass plays did we actually defend w/o some sort of flag or overthrow? Not many. That being said, I thought our DTs did well against GT and we saw lots of backfield penetration all day. Maybe that will translate into getting some pressure on the QBs. Also, I'm excited to see Bush next week in the pass game. I think he did quite a bit of growing up yesterday.

2) How can anyone not think we have a good shot at the ACCCG? This is the first time I recall that we have had a favorably schedule compared to VT and/or GT in conference. VT seem to be about on par with us this year, but hopefully by that point we'll have Perryman, Kirby, and Porter back. GT already has 2 ACC losses, VT has to play both both Clemson and FSU and will be happy to walk 1-1 from those games. We're good shape now, just can't afford letdowns.

Another thing to consider: If we receive/self-impose another bowl ban, it would probably mean no postseason, period (conference championship games included). I believe Urban Cryer's bunch is ineligible for the Big Ten game this year in addition to missing a bowl.

Better against the run than the pass, but aspects will improve when we get Perryman, Kirby, and Porter back in the lineup.

On paper it looks like our chances are good given our 2-0 start and GT's losses. However, I still expect a very up and down type season. My outlook on the season pretty much mirrored what happened in the game yesterday with all of its huge swings of good and then terrible play. Unfortunately I still think we slip up when we should take care of business at some point, and I'm pretty uncertain of anything, going into any game. I think the only gimme on our schedule was BCC. That being said, I think the team will surprise me at times too and when they play mistake free they're pretty good. We're just so inexperienced that I don't think we can count on much, week to week. Consistency will hopefully develop as the season goes on.
