Think it’s been OU for awhile but Miami gave him something to think about

Setting expectations a little high. When Acheampong committed I remember some people were disappointed for the same reason.
Not expecting it..just thinking of ones that would be on the level of unexpected like Cormani and Collins.

I don’t want people to freak out when I say this but he reminds me a bit of juiced up Standish Dobard. Like if you took Standish and pumped up every one of his attributes a couple of points (with still a ton of room to grow of course)
that dude was a bit tubby though. this kid is fit with growing years of development ahead of him

Can someone give a deeper analysis on what they see?

I see a really large TE who routinely plays on or outside the hash, but don't really note as much suddenness in his breaks or movements as you'd expect from someone in that role. Seems to have very clean hands. Seems to have good contact balance. Looks like a natural over the middle. Didn't really see enough examples of precise routes to judge much of that aspect. They were, after all, sophomore highlights. Ha.

Anyone with more perspective?

Combination of Bruce Hardy, Dietrich Clausell (RIP), Gerard Daphnis, Mondriel Fulcher, Troy Drayton, and Syii Tucker.

And, if he doesn't pick the Canes, I take it all back.

From Gaby:

"Mitchell has not relayed his decision to either program, and it sounds like both programs will get on the phone with the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder tonight. The plan for Mitchell appears to be having some of those final discussions, sleeping on a decision, and coming out with an answer on Saturday morning."

"It feels like a true toss up here on Friday evening, but 247Sports West Coast analyst Greg Biggins did catch up with Mitchell earlier in the day and came away feeling like Miami had a very real chance here. I believe in the possibility of that more so now than any time prior."

"Miami runs NFL style concepts at the tight end position, and that has opened the door to multiple top-rated tight ends choosing to play their college football in Coral Gables. It’s a deep room, but one that is built on true development both at the line of scrimmage and in pro passing concepts. It’s clear that Mitchell and some around him understand that aspect of Miami and it’s helped."
Gaby is growing on me. Well done. He is getting better.

Few mins ago, per Gaby

Heard Mario Cristobal gave his final pitch tonight and it went really well. No definite answer either way coming out of it but I’m hopeful that we will have some more clarity in the am. Either way it goes, Coach is who I want at the table with a tight recruitment on the line. Let’s see how the chips fall.
