DAILY DEBATE: Who will be our best young linebacker?

I really like this Wiley kid and I’ve seen some speculate he could see some playing time this year. You have to be special to see the field a lot as a true freshman LB so we’ll have to wait and see, but there’s tremendous potential there and that’s why Texas wanted him so badly.

@DMoney
That's going to be tough to pin down to one guy. I absolutely love Kellen Wiley and Adarius Hayes. I also love Cam Pruitt and Bobby Washington(hope he recovers soon). I think the change at DC may help Popo and Wes. Finally I have a gut feeling that Ezekiel Marcellin is going to be very productive for us. I honestly think we have a very talented young LB group. We really lacked high level coaching and teaching and we lacked discipline and fundamentals. Hopefully Hetherman can give us what we have been lacking.

I hope it’s popo I was really sold on him off his hs tape but honestly I was with all of our backer commits Im not the biggest marcelin fan but I get the take being a local feeder school

If one of the young guys truly emerges will Hetherman actually bench a south Florida senior (Wes) from a local powerhouse like Central ? If Wiley, Hayes, or Pruitt are truly ready they need to be on that field without any hesitation
Or maybe Hetherman allows Wes to take the next step and become the type of player that most of us expected. With regards to your first question, when it comes to starting jobs and playing time in general, politics as you described should have absolutely no place in the decision making process! If Hayes or anyone else is beating out Wes then I don't give a flying fig if he went to Central, Columbus or Chaminade and I honestly don't think Hetherman cares either.

Pruitt.. Having a year under his belt S&C wise is a big advantage... If he picks up what Hetherman is throwing down it could make for an interesting resurgence of our LB unit.... In all honesty I want them all to excel... But I'll go with Pruitt for now....

Pruitt appears to be a tweener I'm afraid. Seeing him get dragged in the bowl game was an eye opener and he doesn't appear to have the frame to get much larger. The safety position should still be considered a major concern and maybe it makes sense for Pruitt to get snaps there in the spring.

I was thinking about this yesterday and asking myself who is the lb that will transfer eventually down the road.

He was the only one I could understand transferring especially if Wiley and Hayes took more time. Especially the following season. If not it’s Hayes, but hopefully they all stay we need the help. I’m tripping out though as to how tf Wes still here, seems like he been here forever.
