Here's a look at why the D-line couldn't get pressure on any offense this year. Worst D-line depth chart in 30 years produces worst D-line numbers in 30 years. No where to go but up!!!

Seniors
Smith- True Senior that was an overweight JUCO transfer that should have gotten a shirt in year one at Miami but was forced to action due to ****** recruiting by the previous regime.

Juniors
Porter - played in 2 games in 2011 and was injured for most of 2012 only playing in 5 games. Has been injured his entire career at Miami
Green - played in 4 games in 2011. Has been injured his entire career. Pretty telling when a guy like Green leads your defense in Tackles.
Robinson- 1st year of any real playing time. Finally started working out this offseason. Made one TFL and decided he was the best DT ever at Miami.
Kelvin Cain- Probably should have never had a scholarship to Miami but the last regime never had plan B kids if their plan A fell through. This plan D tweener was moved to D-line from LB his Junior year.

Sophomores
Pierre - played in 7 games in 2011. Showed the most promise of any D-linemen Miami currently has on the roster even for a "Temple" recruit.
Chick - played in 12 games in 2011. Had a bit of a Sophomore slump. To be expected when teams can focus on you and take you out of game.
Grimble - played in 7 games in 2011. Still trying to find a home on the D-line.

Hoilett will shock a lot of people I believe... might even get more sacks than McCord... people are sleeping on that guy... we do have depth just not experienced depth... I think quality is there but not experience... Earl Moore is my guy... dude is a monster especially in the weight room... I think he will have monster results in the future... let's bring in those JUCO's tho... hope we climb into the top 10 or 15 next year...

Oh I agree with you on Hoilett, kids going to be a monster for sure. Different type of DE than McCord though. I'm just saying when you have one Senior and that Senior is an overweight JUCO who should have been a shirted Junior this season and the only Juniors are Green "injured entire career", Porter "injured entire career", Cain "Never should have gotten a scholarship", and Luther Robinson "who finally started lifting this offseason" you're going to get the results we got this year out of the D-line. The D-line is full of talented underclassmen who were forced to play early when they should have been developing.

It all starts in the trenches on both sides of the ball. This defense is going to be leaps and bounds better just from becoming a year older. The offense is also going to be progressively better as the defense develops. Coach D will get it done...

Great points agree all around. Its been said before but great Teams usually have a great dline as well as a great QB...

Good post. Been saying this since the preseason, but a large contingent of our fan base simply refuses to seriously account for our woeful and inexperienced defensive talent, particularly on the line. How many of those DL would start on a top 25 team? Perhaps porter, but he missed more than half the season.

People are sleeping on Hoilett because he was here early, went through Utough, our defense blew, the staff tried everyone with a pulse and Hoilett never played a single snap.Mccord and Terry both 20+ lbs lighter tham Hoilett and both arriving in the fall played a ton.Moore's advantage over the other young DTs was stregth,we'll see after an offseason where the others catch up if he can them back.
