No. What I think you want is a one gap attacking defense and who gives a **** whether it is 3-4/4-3. From there you can decide zone or man behind it.

Perhaps that's a solution. But the flip side is the coaches want to run a two-gap scheme, so the players are going to have to learn it at some point.
Hopefully they get better as the year goes on.
You clearly don't understand defensive schemes well.
With our DL we'd give up 400 passing yds per game playing cover 2 man. Because our DL gets zero pass rush It'll be our young corners trying to cover WRs and TEs for 5 to 6 seconds every play while the QB has all day to sit in the pocket untouched and pick us apart.
We could have Darrelle Revis and Champ Bailey in our secondary and it wouldn't matter in that scheme with our lack of defensive pressure.
Do you even know what cover 2 means? 2 Safeties each covering one half of the field and making sure nobody beats them deep. So you want Vaughn Telemaque and Kacy Rodgers being stuck on islands by themselves trying to defend halves of the field for 5+ seconds by themselves? LOL

you know your football
UNFORTUNATELY our DT are not very good ...
only teams that beat our cover 2 man are teams with good wideouts and a qb that can throw
BC and K Stats are not those teams

I disagree. They (DTs) are adequate. Not saying there are any too special. But they all appear slow off of the ball cause they are engaging the OLineman. Anyone noticed we have **** for holding calls on the opposition so far?
If you are going to use the D line to contain, you still need someone that forces the action one way or the other. You want to watch a defense that can play two gap and "picket fence" like Golden and Coach D are wanting, watch Bama. This style also means you need guys who are strong enough and technically sound enough to shed blockers once engaged. If you watch our guys, they suck donkey balls at this. You draw from that what you want. QBs should have no more than 2.5 F'N seconds to get rid of the ball.
Apologies for my small rant. All I have seen so far is they are asking guys to do stuff they are absolutely atrocious at. It frustrates me that they ask them to do something and let them repeatedly fail at.

With post like this Hammer
I think I'm going to remove you from my friends list,JK
OUR DT cannot excuse what their been recruit to do
Let look at Bama
DT shock,shake and stick
OUR DT are just as big ,just as tall ,but a whole lot less talented
We have yet to collaspe the pocket ,F**K the run defense
Ever on passing down when the offesive-line are retreating to pass block
Our DT are getting push back in one on one ,lol
Smith former juco with limited offers
Pierre recruited by Temple and AL
Gimble 5 star entered the program 17
we could ever red-shirt the kid..
Moore a FR. playing against 22 men
What kind of picture is this ?
If Bama DT are mona lisa
Then our DT are (you get the ideal)

Obvious overreaction thread is not so obvious?
But seriously could it be any worse than what we are doing right now?
If our DT are so bad why are we asking them to control 2-gaps... Wouldn't it be better to attack one gap, wouldn't this also help our pass rush... We aren't running a 3-4 here.
