In butch's 2nd year we lost to East Carolina 31-6

In butch's 3rd year we lost to fsu 47-0 and to Syracuse 33-13

In butch's 4th year we lost to Syracuse 66-13

There are going to be big bumps along the way but let's hope it's all part of growing. We can't kid ourselves these freshmen will be seniors when we should be good/great again.

That is what happens with very young teams. YOung kids with little leadership and upper classmen tend to fall apart.

Problem is we have too many post 2001 fans, who think those teams just arrived as All Americans.

Another perspective...

Butch actually dealt with real loss of scholarships in all of those years. That hasn't happened yet.

After watching the game earlier, it felt like a 90s post hammer dropping on the program.

I gave myself some perspective looks during Shannon era. *shrugs*

As a fan of Golden and The U I ant to believe it's heading in right direction (and it is)... but I don't know if thatt road ends with national title talks or just competing for coastal divison.

CFB is $$$ sport now... if you don't have it... you lose.

LSU has a professional strength team (7+ guys) and a few make 6 figures. The coordinator hires in the SEC are more expensive than most HC's across rest of country.

Get what you pay for.

While we are using Butch for perspective, are people willing to give Golden until his 6th season for UM to be a title contender?

I think if you told every Miami fan we would be in the top 5 in 6 years (from last year) and stay there for a while 90% would take it.

While I totally agree with the OP, this also concern me. Part of the reason we are in this hole is that we were/are unable or unwilling to spend money on sports.
