Tony Hernandez ( I think that's who it was, heavy set hispanic dude) and Hurlie Brown spoke to the coaches before we had to leave the field, couple of things I found interesting:
Brown told all coaches they have an open invitation to visit Miami's staff whenever they want (just have to call Brown and set things up). Miami would open it's doors to every and all coaches around the state to sit with them and discuss whatever it is their interested in (watching film, weight training (I know), general football discussion, etc). I thought that was pretty cool, and you can bet your *** I'm gonna try and convince our head coach to take advantage of that.
Hernandez said when Miami (or any college) holds scrimmages at a high school, that school cannot profit in any way off the event. It could effect the eligibility of players at that high school. Admission and parking were free, but Bishop Verot had a **** of a food spread for sell (same one as the City of Palms if you've ever been). I'm not exactly sure where that money goes, maybe a booster club, personally I think it's ridiculous they can't profit, but I could see where some college's would take advantage of the situation.
IMO, the most interesting point Hernandez made to the coaches was college requirements will be going up in the near future. He told us that some changes are coming, and kids that are currently sophmores and freshman(s), will have to score higher on their entrance exams by the time their seniors. I'm assuming he means across the board and not just Maimi.
Stood with Jammi German the entire time he was there (left with about 20 min left), he's really excited about Golden and the future of the program. Said he golfed with Golden a few weeks ago, and just could not say enough good things about him.
