This team continues to break our hearts, year in and year out. At this point, it might be better for everyone’s sanity if we just assume 8-4 seasons are the norm going forward. The same problems that have plagued this program for two decades are not going away — that much is clear.

1) Lack of Discipline.

Mario acts like a tough guy, but the reality is the players behave like they have a substitute teacher as a head coach. There seems to be zero repercussions for selfish, stupid penalties.

2) Inability to Play Complimentary Football.

This team can NEVER play well in all phases. When the defense finally gets a stop or two, the offense turns the ball over or gets stagnant. If the offense and defense are both — miraculously — playing well, we give up a special teams touchdown, a fake punt, or some other dumb ****.

3) The Players are Clueless.

It’s on the coaches to set the players up for success by putting them in advantageous positions that mask their weaknesses. Guidry failed at this all year. Our guys had absolutely no idea what was going on pre-snap. When players think too much, they play slow and it showed week in and week out. The scheme needed to be adjusted and certain players should have been benched. Again, this is on Mario, as the buck stops with him.

But beyond coaching malpractice, we are recruiting absolute idiots (I’m sorry — but it’s true). One example yesterday is watching multiple players just stop covering their guy in man coverage. You would think a team that plays different variations of man coverage most of the time would be good at running it, but we sucked. We couldn’t adjust to motion and we failed to communicate all game. It’s embarrassing. Yes, a lot of that is on coaching, but my god some of our players are clueless. My JV football team would look better adjusting than our guys on division 1 scholarship — and no, that’s no hyperbole.

This is why I'm not convinced that it's "all coaching, bro" like so many others around here. Part of the reason is geography, which we can't do anything about. When you have 30+ players from south Florida, they better be elite, otherwise they will look silly against a bunch of white dudes from Iowa.

Take BYU. Those dudes played great defense all year and shut down Prime Time. That's not a result of just "coaching". They have smart players who can recognize what's happening pre-snap. We can have our guys in the film room 20 hours a week and it won't matter. They don't realize what is happening until it's actually happening.

If you saw the angles our players took players, one can clearly see that coaches are NOT communicating well. Basic things were obvious, poor angles to the ball, ineffective tackling, lack of set up, communication and much more! These D coaches are plain awful and. The longer Cristomoron tales to fire Guidry, the more credibility he loses!

This should be the first sign that it's not coaching. These things are obvious to our wives and girlfriends in the stands. Why does a college football player getting NIL money and watching film during the week need a coach to tell him what the offense is about to do?

All coaches teach technique (NFL or College) and our players being young and inexperienced have not been coached well, but people that have NOT played sports and hang out with their wives and girlfriends would never understand coaching!

The thing with Cam not playing the 2nd half is weird, and im not hating on him but it’s like this, sure u can sit out but if your goal is to win what happens when the game is close. I guarantee you Cam, Mario, and the staff didn’t think the game was gonna be that close when Emory got put in.

Mario in 2 games this year put faith in his defense to make a stop and both times failed. I don’t think he ever accepted the fact that their defense wasn’t good this year, hopefully this game opened his eyes.

Finish the job in the portal regarding DBs. Get a qb in the portal, and 1-2 difference makers at LBs. The LB and DT recruiting this year was abysmal. The fact that we only signed 1 LB and 1 DT, missed out on guys like Gompers and Alford needs to be noted. We all saw we need better LB play and we didn’t load up on talent to encourage competition. Last but not least fire Guidry.

I have been a baseball coach for 33 years. I have major leaguers and at least one future Hall of Famer. I understand coaching. In fact, I understand coaching (and teaching) so well that I know when a kid just isn't going to get it no matter what I tell them or show them. But you go on believing that BYU is just "coaching" better.
