Confused Expectations

Before the season started, I told myself I’d be okay with 9/10 wins—anything less would be a failure. Then… Week 1 happened (the Florida game). I saw the potential of this team and thought everything would come down to the defense and CAM staying healthy. Like everyone else, I got excited, and by my own admission, I moved the goalpost: it was ACC Championship or bust.

And this defense? Epic fail. No question about it. Because of this defense, we missed a golden opportunity. I’m not making excuses for anyone. We, the team, players and coaches failed.

At the same time, I’m frustrated with myself for moving my own expectations higher, only to feel the letdown.

We missed an opportunity, and there’s no sugarcoating it. But now, I’m questioning—did this team really meet my original expectations, or was that just me setting the bar too low?

If our defense were a top 30 defense, we would've been ok. Problem is Mario is ******* up recruiting by recruiting one position a year which i find dumb af.

Agree with your post. I raised my expectations too. Still 10-2 is a great season for what we’ve had the last 2 decades. I still expected more considering on paper Miami is more talented than every opponent we faced.

Expectations are allowed to change once games are played. It’s college football. Preseason stuff barely matters

I’m so tired of this ******* conversation

(Nothing against you OP just venting)
This.

And alot of it had to do with the fla game. Then went back down after vt/cal a bit. But our schedule was soft in the back end, so back up.

We had every chance. No team really stopped us. We got in our own way on offense and the d couldn't figure it out (coaches and players).

We lost to the 2nd quarter all year

Oh Jesus, just stop this crap already. This thread is too stupid to even have to try to explain it to you in.
