It's interesting because both are small private schools in a big city in fertile recruiting state.

But specifically this season and today are interesting. Tcu has played close to 30 frosh this year including their top passer and rusher. They are 6-3 but they have had some easier wins than us. Grumbling, ku, smu, and wait for it UVA who they beat 27-7. And they play ksu today.

So I just thought it would be a good comparison to see how we do vs UVA and they do vs ksu. The type of school and youth are all similar. We have championship history they have long time coaching stability.

Difference is they have had competent coaching for the past 6-7 years and are on an upward trend.

Few schools like UM. To me USC would be a better comparison because Miami and LA are much more a like than either is to Dallas/Fort Worth. The prominence of the football programs (UM and TCU) is also different. Perhaps the biggest difference we have with most programs and arguably biggest difficulty is our local fan support and stadium situation. We have the unique contradiction of having a huge national fan base, but as you know a very small loyal local fan base. TCU has a small to mid-size stadium, but they fill it up. I'm pretty sure also that Texas will get the best kids coming out of Dallas whereas I would expect us to get the best kids coming out of Dade. Dallas kids probably grow up thinking I'll play for UT one day as opposed to TCU. TCU has done an incredible job all things considered, and I think Golden has us on the right track. Below is a little write up on recent renovations to TCU's football stadium.

AMON G. CARTER STADIUM
THE FUTURE OF TCU FOOTBALL

On Aug. 16, 2010, TCU announced a $105 million renovation of the west side and north end zone of Amon G. Carter Stadium to better enhance football fans’ experience, upgrade amenities and transform the historic Fort Worth icon into the “Camden Yards” of collegiate football stadiums. Additional funding was then raised in order to expand the project to include the stadium’s east side, pushing the total project cost to $143 million.

Work on the renovation, which has been fully funded by a group of 95 donors, began immediately following the 2010 season and will be completed prior to the start of the 2012 campaign. Following construction, the completely renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium will have a seating capacity of approximately 43,000.

Built in 1930, this is the first major renovation to the stadium since the upper deck was added in 1956. Designed by HKS Sports & Entertainment Group, who most recently completed work on the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, the renovation greatly enhances the fan experience by improving stadium accessibility, seating and views of the playing field.

So I am not saying TCU is Miami. I am saying for this season due to youth and this week due to the teams we are playing it is an interesting comparison when you also factor in the small private school in a recruiting state part.

They beat UVA and play KSU

we lost to KSU and play UVA

My misunderstanding guppycane. Clearly can see that comparison.

TCU is a significantly better football program than UM at this point in time and for the foreseeable future. Golden couldn't sniff Patterson's jock.
