Coley article in the Herald

From an offensive standpoint this could be the second coming of Jon Gruden transplanting from Oakland to Tampa Bay, and ending up playing for the Super Bowl Championship...Gruden knew all the Oakland plays and had Kiffen giving heads up for this before each play

Coley knowing Jizzbo inside and out and knowing their personnel extremely well should be a big advantage for the good guys.

Well Morris is playing worse this year than last, so that speech must not have helped.

Is he?

Through 7 games in 2012 (4-3): 10 TDs 6 INTs 1,991 57.2%
Through 7 games in 2013 (7-0): 10 TDs 8 INTs 1,463 59.9%

I'll take less yards and more wins.

It's the Fish Felchers. They remember Morris being a world beater last year, but he really wasn't until the last 3 or 4 games of the season. Even with that putrescent UNC game, he's still close to last year's numbers at the same juncture.

Coach Coley spent countless hours with Jizzbo in meetings and understand how Jizzbo thinks, and Jizzbo probably understands how Coach Coley thinks. The difference is that Jizzbo actually called the plays so there are more data points against Jizzbo. Advantage UM.

Remember those stats are some what off. Last year, Morris played almost every snap (minus some versus UNC) through the first seven games. This year he has been injured a bunch and even when healthy (USF) sat to give Williams some burn.

Here are his stats through the first seven games last year

1. 28 for 46, 207 1TD/1INT
2. 19 for 26, 215 0TD/0INT
3. 20 for 35, 211 1TD/1INT
4. 31 for 52, 436 2TDs/1INT
5. 26 for 49, 566 5TDs/1INT
6. 18 for 35, 201 0TD/0INT
7. 12 for 26, 155 0TD/2INTs

The guy threw the ball 269 times through the first 7 games. This year he has thrown it only 157 times.

2012: 154 for 269 (57%)
2013: 94 for 157 (60%) 1463 10TDs/8 INTs

Sure the schedule may have been slightly more difficult last year through 7 games (UF v. KSU and ND) but this guy threw it 112 more times last year at this point in the year.

If you tease the numbers (just for comparison) if he threw the ball 112 more times this year, his stats would like as follows:

Adj 2013: 161 for 269, 2506 17TDs/14 INTs

He played KSU, ND, GT, NCST, and UNC (with Davis recruits) in his first 7 games last year. This year's slate is no where near as tough.

I don't remember Morris being a world beater, he certainly looked like crap in a few games. But this year he seems to struggle against **** near everyone. He ripped apart USF, but hasn't done **** against anyone else.

We wouldn't be in these death struggles if our offense could execute on 3rd down and execute in the red zone. A lot of that is on Morris.

Steveland Morris looked pretty good against uf.ag in the first quarter or so.

Yeah he had a good first quarter, thank God our defense played as well as it did for 4 quarters or that wouldn't have been enough.

I hope as much as anyone that he plays the game he has never played this Saturday. Efficient, keeping the offense on the field, and consistently scoring TDs when they get to the redzone.

I know a lot of people are looking for artistic masterpieces and dominating victories. All I care about is the W, and I don't care how we got it. It can be as ugly as a bar of homemade soap, and I'll take it.

It can be as ugly as Ferman, just get the W.

JUST WIN BABY!!!!

Wow, that is interesting...if you were to beat me money he was having a worse season thru 7 games compared to last year, I would have took that sucker bet without a though. Granted we have a tough front loaded schedule last year but still the percentages are very close. Lets hope he can close out the year like he did last year. It starts with this game!

We need to be better on first and second down so that we don't get to 3rd down so often. I wish we could trust Morris to make adjustments rather than have him pause and look to Coley to make them. I say this because I think Steven is like a streak shooter that needs to get into a rhythm. Seems hard to do that when you have to constantly pause and go.

We wouldn't be in these death struggles if our offense could execute on 1st and 2nd down and in the red zone. A lot of that is on Morris.
