Here's the second half of Coach L's presser after the game today. There's a lot of good stuff in here -- it's worth a listen:

Highlights:
  • Said that we always start the seniors on Senior Day.
  • Mentioned that we changed up our offense a bit in the 2nd half, made adjustments away from a ball-screen heavy offense (since Clemson was particularly good at defending that).
  • Joked that he was very coachable. Larkin apparently asked to guard Jordan Roper from Clemson when he was on the bench and saw Roper go off to start the game, and Coach L listened to him. He said that Shane tells him what he sees a lot, and that he values that input.
  • Thought that we slumped a bit because we lost some of our focus. Blamed winning for this, in that guys tend to want to do more and get away from the fundamentals that brought on success in the first place.
  • Said that he and his staff have worked non-stop for two straight years because there was "so much work to do." He joked that his only vacation was getting his hip replaced.
  • Credited our strong OOC schedule for helping to prepare us for ACC play, especially on the road.
  • Called himself "a fool" because he was "foolish enough to dream big dreams" (in reference to our season).
  • Promoted Larkin as ACC Player of the Year. Said to look at the numbers; we're apparently something like +274 (roughly +10 per game) with him in the lineup, and -54 without him in games.

I love love love that "foolish enough to dream big dreams" quote. (It's at roughly 6:45 in the video.)

When you hear him speak about program building and having big dreams, it's clear he's been aching for a shot at a big-time conference coaching job. Can't believe this guy fell into our lap. However long he's here, we're going to be relevant.

Did he have to sit Larkin for 6 minutes though??

In all honestly he finally stopped playing Reggie so **** much in the 2nd half. We are a much better team with Gamble on the floor

100%. 100%.

It is a good thing he loves coaching and loves it here. Steve Fisher seems to have found the fountain of youth, maybe coach find it as well.

Funny how Haith is getting squeezed from both sides now. Left Coach L with a pile of **** to clean up, and inherited a final 4 caliber team at Mizzou that gets ko'd by a 15 seed in the first round.

Yeah, looks like that six minutes really affected the outcome.

And actually, it worked out great in the long run because Shane had gas in the tank when we needed him to make shots in the 2nd half. Not that I'm suggesting any such foolishness in the post-season, just sayin'.

Was that +/- stat for the entire season? If so, that's a +10.9 for every game in total when he plays.
