Clemson Ventures, which was officially announced in August, is a functional restructuring of the school’s athletic department that saw it expand the way it operates its in-house multimedia rights division -- Clemson Athletic Properties (CAPCO) -- while keying in on better ways to drive business operations and revenue.
The new entity at its outset is slated to serve five key functions that existed to varying degrees under Clemson’s athletic department or CAPCO:
Multimedia Rights Integration: Expanding the school’s in-house MMR efforts through a strategic approach to content distribution, sponsorship and partnerships.
Media and Original Content: Pitch, managing and distributing original programming around Tigers athletics through platforms like social media and Clemson+.
Sales and Marketing: Driving revenue through sales strategies, cutting-edge marketing and social media campaigns.
NIL Operations: Housing a more robust NIL agency, while facilitating opportunities for Tigers athletes.
Business Operations Unit: Optimizing internal processes, financial management and operational efficiencies in efforts to generate and sustain revenue.
Beyond school-specific revenue generation, Drake’s role will also entail seeking live events like concerts, international soccer games and more in Clemson or by partnering with other entities in the state or region.
