Class Rankings ... WTH???

UGA 100% is going to finish with the #1 class.
After them depending on the size of their class, I think they're supposed to be small, I can easily see Clemson and Bama leaping us.
I expect us to jump ahead of PSU by NSD though. And Texas and tOSU too, but Idk how many they're trying to bring in. If they sign like 2-3 more than us, than I doubt we rank ahead of them, just from the numbers standpoint.

This is like most of us were saying in the Summer. Yeah we're going to have an elite class, and it may even be top 3 in the nation. But we wont be RANKED like that. I always expected us to be around 5 or 6.

UGA’s and Clemson’s days yesterday caused that. Clemson’s class is small but they got 3 of the top 15 prospects in the nation.

Yea its a legit drop, UGA is going ham and Clemson just recruited an entire stud DL its why they dominate. We only have 19 as well, I remember the days of having 30 and people thought those classes were great but it was the numbers that kept us high ranked. Now we gettin quality not quantity.

i think Clemson is our new rival over the next few years not FSU. Also, Bama is great program but i feel like they are not as feared.
Alot of these schools capitalized on Golden being here and they made headway in south florida. it will decrease significantly.
I find the early signing day interesting because Saban is a late closer alot of times. Im sure he will adjust tho.
This class is going to provide the kind of depth we need. 19 and the rest will just be reloading instead of rebuilding.

Espn gave us more attention this season then i can remember. They hyped up the turnover chain, put us in prime time multiple times and gave us gameday.

Relax.

People acting like these rankings are a perfect numerical discrete science - and a #1 ranking is quantitatively better than for example a #4 ranking. It isn’t. Because it’s not an actual reproducible measurement of something tangible, like weight or height or widgets per minute off the assembly line. It’s just an amalgam of subjective rankings.

So while I think they’re very useful and give an excellent picture of the overall quality of the class, they’re not so numerically precise that you can say that 1 is better than 5 in the long run. Great for bragging rights but for not much else.

I tend to look at them in groups. Top 5, top 10, top 15, and so forth.

I think if you can consistently manage to be in the top 5 to top 10 year in year out, and are developing players, you’re in excellent shape to be a consistent playoff contender.

Again, based on the subjectivity of recruit measurement and inherent lack of precision, being #1 is good for twitter boasting, but the key is to be in the top group consistently.

for a small class to be top 5 means your recruiting elite classes again.........this isnt AG class or Butch Jpnes where there class in inflated because of the number of guys. We have a great class and its got the recognition it deservesl

ESPN is one the worst at this. I go with rivals on this

I think it's the opposite. I believe there is still a gap between Alabama and Clemson, but Deshaun Watson managed to conceal it the past two seasons.

We'll see.

ESPN didn't know what to do with that early signing day. Obviously it's a new entity. Instead of remote anchors all over the nation they remained almost exclusively in studio other than a handful of announcements. Now I can't imagine they'll allot the typical number of hours and hype toward the February date.

We received too much signing day attention when we were signing 27 moderate guys and running up the score in meaningless fashion.

I prefer it this way. Fifth would be preferable to 7th but we are finally in the starting gate again. That's the important thing.

Who cares where we are ranked? We are happy with our guys, I wouldn't trade our class with anyone else's and it will only get better.

You wouldn’t trade our class with Georgia’s?
Nope. Miami arguably has the best skill talent class in the nation. A whole offense that was out at the opening is going to Miami

The first part I agree with but games are won in the trenches and Georgia’s OL & DL classes are about as elite as you can get.

OL is the hardest position to predict in college football.

No, I wouldn't trade classes.

They have 17 4/5 star recruits. 23 total.
We have 13 4/5 star recruits. 20 total.

We're 3 players behind but can still assess.

Fields and White are 2 of their 6 5-stars.
I'm good with Williams and Lingard.

I'll take their 2 stud O-lineman and call it a day.
Keep the rest.

All signs are pointing to some real good things happening for us in February.

NJshoreCane, Jersey Pride, I’m with you! I’m from Passaic County... we will be icing the cake come February!

OL and QB for me.

Very few OL in high school have great technique or get good coaching - most get by on pure size or strength.

QB is the same for me. Many HS kids stand out with athleticism, arm talent and scheme. Kids run wide open in HS, so it's not hard to put up great stats with a good system and/or good WR. Plus, very little is 2nd and 3rd reads, so it's difficult to know how a kid will react to going through progressions with a pass rush in his face or see how he will manage safeties with his eyes and pick up coverage or blitzes at the line.

**** no. That means we lose LINGARD, JORDAN, MALLORY, HALL, POPE ETC. ETC. ETC.

Georgia's class is awesome but we have irreplaceable DOGS coming in who are dying to be 'Canes.

btw nystateofmind for sure has *** with his pajamas on. my goodness.

Who doesn't?

Spoke with a friend last night who was a Georgia fan and even he thinks UGA's haul is suspicious. LOL

Flipping those guys late from Bama will always look suspicious, just as Bama flipping kids the last minute from the rest of the country every year does. Also getting the #1 player in TN, NC and IL and the #2 player in SC looks a bit odd as well.

But the one thing in Georgia's favor this year was so many top-rated kids being from the state of GA. Fields, Salyer, Anderson, Cox....that 4 5-star homegrown kids.
