There appears to be a bit of an uproar on the board, regarding the few decommits that we've encountered over the past couple of weeks for the 2020 class. I get it. Decommits are never fun. However, as have been stated by several other posters, this is the 2020 class that we are talking about here. They are still sophomore's in High School; meaning these kids are 15-16 years old.

A couple of weeks ago, I visited my family back in my hometown. While I was at my grandmother's house, one of my 15 year old cousins was eating a few slices of pizza at the bar in the kitchen. Do you know what this maf'ucker said to me, while he was eating his pizza?....."I got a taste for a burger!"

After I slapped his dumb *** in the back of the head for confusing the **** out of me, I quickly remembered how indecisive and uncertain young boys are about pretty much everything, except wanting to beat their meat 3 times a day. Like my cousin, most 15-16 year olds can't even make up their mind about what they want to eat, let alone, where they are going to spend 4 years in college.

I am more shocked when a 15-16 year old kid actually commits to a school, than I am when one decommits. Stressing out over kids who are so young, that they still call the mothers "mommy", makes as much sense as expecting those same kids to be truly certain and committed to anything at that age.

Let's at least allow all of our 2018 class to enroll, before we start losing our **** over kids who are in the process of completing only their second year of High School.

Well said. I agree having anyone decommitting is not a great look. But the flip side is you get a stud who commits, stays committed, and is already familiar with the university well before he gets there. The transition is as seamless as can be.

From what I'm seeing with our staff, the commits from classes far in the future are just placeholders. If we can get a guy in a closer class that suits us as well/better, we'll take him. Perfect example being we just had Williams decommit and then got Smith.

No question in my mind this staff knows what they're doing in the recruiting game. Getting a guy to commit early and keeping him does more good for the program than him decommitting does harm. The question for the fans is how upset are you gonna be when a 16 year old changes his mind on a decision he made two years out? Far too many take it way too seriously.

Lol too true

Our coaches definitely need to figure out a way to leverage the early excitement/interest some of these younger prospects have for the program when they receive an early offer without really letting them commit off excitement

Not worried about 2020 one bit. Richt and staff have proven that they know how to identify talent and most importantly - the right kind of talent for Miami.

We take care of business on the field next year and with the IPF fully functional, kids will be beating down our door to get onboard.

So I am positive that we will sign a solid 2020 class when the time comes. Not at all worried.

I know once a player decommits it’s very unlikely they end up recommitting, especially if it is in their senior year. However, I think atleast 1 of the 3 who decomitted will end up a Cane. Especially since it’s so far out, two of them will be recruited by Donk and we will ball out next year

I always scratch my head when our later class is higher ranked than our current class. Plus, if you look at who ended the best in 2018, they only had 2 or 3 commitments this time last year! Georgia and Alabama where not even in the top 20 a year prior to NSD.

Exactly, my man. Money talks, and the IPF alone, is over 34 million reasons for us to always be in contention for elite recruits. Add in the new dorms, and we immediately become one of the upper tier programs as it relates to facilities.

At that point, the success on the field, will speak for itself.

Is there a completion date for the dorms?

3 times a day? Try like 30 times a day.

Im not worried about 2020 until 2019
Exactly. Once the 2019 class is signed then I will start focusing on the 2020 class. Of course, our coaches do not have the luxury of waiting that long, but as a fan, why stress out over matters that is almost two years away.

It only takes a few recruits to make a top class 2 years out so it's not surprising if our 2020 class is ranked higher than 2019. And as for looking at what bama and uga have at this point that's just silly. Even if you don't believe in bags, you have to admit that they close strong and poach other team's recruits. They play a completely different recruiting game than we do.

Losing these recruits really isn't a big deal in my eyes, because it happens every year, we get recruits to commit early then before we know it, they are de-committed!! I really believe Miami has a good chance of getting them back, so it's too early to start pulling our hair out about 2020' recruits..

BUT it is very disappointing to see these recruits commit then all of a sudden decide to open their recruitment back up..

Agreed.. Still dealing with Surge19', no need to stress out about 2020'!! WIN AND THEY WILL BE BACK..
