I joined Alex Donno for our weekly segment presented by CanesWear. We discussed Miami's freshmen who will be enrolling next week, a potential player on the roster who could play a tight end role, and a couple of new members of Miami's secondary.

With Zach coming into his own, Shaq trimming down to 235lbs, and Pickney being pushed by Owens, our linebackers may rival the d-line for best unit on the team. When you add in the fact that our secondary is going to be a strength and not a weakness, man our defense can be scary good this year.

As far as I could see, we didn't really use Njoku as a "true tight end" last year, so it could be a role that Cager can play when necessary.

I agree with what Pete said during the interview - that the TE position is becoming more and more athletic, basically just another WR. If Langham can TE in a few packages, it will help with depth.

FWIW, the PBP had an article on Langham a month or two ago, after the last scrimmage. He had a nice scrimmage, and supposedly started to learn how to use his body to his advantage. And anything we get from him is an improvement and gravy.

It's not like Langham was going to make a significant contribution at WR. Nothing to lose here.

That is a great idea. 247 has him listed at 6'2" 200lbs with a 4.5 40 yard dash.. if he can add some weight and keep that speed he might be able to become a poor mans Von Miller..

It looked to me like Njoku spent only about half his time split out wide, the other half he was in the slot. I think Braxton was his backup last year. Maybe Dallas can fill that role this year.
